Small update. Engine radiators painted with gunze iron then weathered with AK engine grease.

Dinghy painted and test fitted.

And started the weathering process with a light grey panel line wash to get things going.

Evening working on the exhaust stains..

Off white sprayed in an ever widening and lighter pattern from the exhaust

Then I sprayed AK exhaust wash through the airbrush in the same sort of pattern but not so wide

AK Smoke pigment to fill in the centre and around the tips of the exhausts

Good job, Aaron - one more for a possible DOA-GB... (Dirty-Old-Aircraft).

Do you now glue on the wings - they were snap-fit before, or...?

George

There such a good fit they simply slide onto the runners as I needed them. Much easier for painting and everything.

What an outstanding job! The details, the finish....everything! :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:

I really love the MG barrels, too. I used a Master set on one of my builds and, after doing so, every gun that I look at now, which comes on a sprue, just looks so "plasticy", by comparison. I don't know if I can go back to plastic barrels after using them. This build is another great example of how something as simple as a brass barrel and cooling jacket can really add to the realism level. But, then again, the entire model is just fabulous and this has been a joy to follow.

So after work on Monday I called by Jon at Sphere Products. I'd sent him a plan of the base I wanted and he kindly prepared it for me from MDF and laser cutting. The laser makes beautiful fine grooves for the concrete plates and the slight burn a ready made pre-shading.

Masked up the outer edge (here with the tape laid ready for trimming.

20151102_195112.jpg

Next up was a blast of Halfords grey and white primers from the cans.

20151102_201512.jpg

Then various shades of grey, black and beige and several different washes etc with AK & Ammo followed by some grass matting. Off with the masks around the edge and voila!

And finally with the black beauty ready for the next night sortie.

Still have the car, bike and guard to make up but overall rather pleased.

Thanks for the build, it's been a ripper. Ballsy to take on these bigger girls for sure, let alone tinker with resin, etch etc.

Good luck at the show.

Nice to see that liferaft poking out too..... See you on the '45 GB.

Regards,
