  2. Hello everybody, I finished the kit. I'm happy with the result but there are some things that could have been better. But I had to finish the kit, otherwise it was going to end on the shelve of doom. First time rigging, it was a real pain in the ass! The buckles flew everywhere, the strings broke or the glue wasn't dry enough so the string with the buckles were shot back (and the buckles were gone), I glued my fingers on the model, etc etc... Respect for you guys who can built the kit with the doucle rigging including the buckles. Normally I weather my planes a lot but I didn't do it this time. My goal was to built a clean WNW and learn the basics of building these kits. I had real fun building this kit. Thank you for your support. Please, feel free to comment.   7. I had the wrong EZ-lines in house so I ordered new from the USA. But it takes a week to arrive. Meanwhile I finished the kit for 99,99%, I will place some small pieces at the end. Otherwise I will loose them. It is a miracle the kit is still in one piece with my clumsiness. I hope to finish the kit before the end of the year! Greetings, Eelco
  8. The decals were nice to apply. Just a few, that is something else instead of modern fighter! I still have to do some detailing and paint some area's but we are getting to the end! Almost time for some rigging! Thanx for watching and feel free to leave some comments! Eelco
  9. Beautiful, it looks really cool! The weathering is great. That they dared to fly in it, it looks so delicate. But the plane was very lethal, I know.

  11. Hello everybody. And thanx PH! This weekend I removed the masking and all was well! I'm very happy with it. I sealed everything with mr.hobby glosscoat to protect the paint and it is now also ready for decals. If you look closely then you see also a difference in color at the brown colors on the fuselage.   12. The paintingjob is almost done! The 5th color, brown with a drop of alluminium, is applyed. I removed some masking and it looks good! And finally the last color was brushed onto the model. I'm very curious how it will look after I remove all of the maskingstuff. If you have any comments, please leave them! Alle the hints and tips are more then welcome. Eelco
  13. Some progresspictures. To create a semi hardedge I use posterbuddies and mask the rest with tape. I now have doubts If the XF65 (Revell 45) is not too light... In the pictures its rather dark. We will see when everything is done and unwrapped. Here the kit has 2 types of green on it. Some dark green mixed with yellow. And lateron the same mix but with some drops of aluminium And again posterbuddies and tape! Time for some brown color! Eelco
  14. Darth Vader Salmsonfighter! Fortunately Revell aqua 45 is the same as xf65. And they sell that at my local hobbyshop, so we're back on track!
  15. A little progress, the kit was primered. Then I painted the underside with Tamiya Buff and Desert Yellow. And now we start with the rest, 5 colors I have to use! 100 different type of green and offcourse I don't have one typical color green and it is not available in my local hobby shop... Eelco

  17. Hello everybody, I had very busy weeks but still managed to find some time to work on my Salmson. The engine is a nice piece of enginering. I will let one side open so you can take a look at the engine. The engine will be weathered a little bit. It start to look like a plane!! Greetings, Eelco
  18. A little progress, it is a busy week with 2 of the 3 children having his/her birthday. But managed to close the fuselage. Everything fitted well and just a little filler was needed. Meanwhile my EZ Lines arrived from the USA, it took 2 weeks. I'm very curious how it will work. And for Jim! "Let's get some rebell scum!" "weeeeeeh" OMG... Eelco

Some decals have to be placed. And when we put everything together we have this! My Bandai speederbike. Just kiddin'. Eelco
  20. Finally I managed to post my first entry here. I have introduced myself in that topic and now I'm here. Building and posting pictures of my first WNW-plane. I normally built AFV and WW2 and I can allready tell that this is a bit more dificult for me. Normally you can built a lot before you can paint the cockpit. But in this case you have to paint most parts first as I found out. Also the rigging will be something to learn. At some Dutch forums I'm not a rookie anymore but here I feel a bit small. But, most important, I'm having a great time with this kit, so I can Ensure you that I will buy more WNW. First some history: The Salmson 2A2 was a two-seat biplane used in World War One for photo reconnaissance and artillery spotting. Designed by Emile Salmson in late 1916 to early 1917 for the French Aviation Militaire it went into production in the latter half of 1917. 3,200 were produced, 2,200 by Salmson, the rest by three other manufacturers. After WWI, Japan mass produced a licensed version for reconnaissance called the Otsu-1. Not one Salmson or Otsu remains anywhere in the world, as far as we know, except a replica Otsu in the Kakamigahara Aerospace Museum, and the delapidated hulk of an Otsu fuselage on display in the same museum. There is a scale model of a Salmson 2A2 hanging from the rafters in the WWI section of the USAF Museum. The American Expeditionary Force purchased 705 Salmson 2A2's and 557 were dispatched to the Zone of Advance, making it the most numerous observation plane in the USAS. Ten Observation Squadrons were equipped with Salmsons. The Salmson 2A2 was a counterpart of the Brequet 14 two-seater. Together the Salmson and the Brequet replaced the A.R.1, A.R.2 and Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter in the escadrilles. Fifty-five escadrilles were to be equipped with the Salmson 2A2. The Salmson 2A2 was developed around the newly introduced Salmson Canton-Unne 9Za engine, a nine cylinder water cooled radial rated at 260 hp at 1600 rpm.. For comparison the famous Sopwith Camel only had 130 hp. The Salmson engine and the solid airframe that housed it proved to be of unsurpassed reliability. My version will be with the elephant, my kids will like it. The Escadrille elephant marking is based on an illustration found on the packet of Joseph Bardou & Fils cigarette paper. The built: The pit is not done, I have to do some finetuning at some places. The chair must be drybrushed to get more detail out of it. Etc, etc. I think that the color I used for the wash is too heavy afterwards. This looks nice to me for the first time. I found it dicicult to paint the very small details. Also still in progress.
