Phil,  Nice work!  Looks smooth.  Is that the kit canopy?  Perfectly clear, wow.  Chris

Thanks Chris much appreciated, this is the first model I’ve used the H&S CR Plus on and I am very happy. Yes that’s the kit canopy, ZM have a mould line down the centre so I had to polish it out. Used Tamiya polish fine & finishing grades. It was scary putting a file to the moulding line…….

Well................ I am a little bit embarrassed..... was talking to Martin the other day and showed him my latest build..... he says you have to post this and I lamented that there was no real specific place to post a finished  1/48 scale model , and it isn't a work in progress.... well, Martin got right on the stick and got in touch with Ernie and lo and be hold, here we are, with a specific place to show our finished smaller scale......  so this will be my first official post on this site. I usually just build for me and I am not all that good, certainly like some of the talent I see here daily, and I could name names LOL.... so as I was kind of an instigator of this particular part of the site, ... here goes...

There is a little bit of a back story here, I will do my best to keep it short so s not to bore you, a LONG while ago Tony Jones ( TJTX) was asking for information on TBM Avengers that were converted to air tankers.... I happened to have a fair bit of info, so I offered up what I had, I sent Tony a number of detailed photos, I have in my collection that I got from Mario, the Chief Engineer at Forest Protection, in New Brunswick Canada. Mario was super generous with information. So when Tony got the pics and info for his 1/32 scale conversion, he was a very happy boy. So as a thank you he sent me as a gift a 1/48 scale Accurate Minitatures TBM Avenger so I could do my idea of a conversion to a tanker.  As it turned out, I believe Tony gave the project to our Ernie, as Tony was so busy with his own 1:1 aircraft build and his new little girl, I called Cubby.

So with the kit in hand and what I had for information, I tucked in............... but as usual, life got in the way, ageing parents, losing 3 of them, then getting the last one into care , a house sale , a move, well you get the picture... the kit languished on the shelf half done, so a couple weeks ago I got back to it..... in the end , it turned out 'OK', but not to the level of talent I see here, regularly. I am over all pleased with the final result..... so the conversion is, of course to have the rear turret removed , ( easy, just leave it in the box ) and access a rear canopy section.... I got the rear canopy section from Mike Belcher, who makes an EXCELLENT 1/48 Scale TBM Royal Canadian Navy conversion, so it is basically a copy of the rear part of that conversion.... the decals came from Andrew and Above and Below Graffics, here in Victoria B.C.  I scratch built the tank from the detailed photos and info from my friend at FPL, Mario. I used, Eduard masks and their photo etched cockpit set with belts, and Quick Boost resin exhaust385544297_375217968332906_825509439852806572_n.thumb.jpg.0bf6850c0944c686a880bb778388afe5.jpg etc... MM enamel paints through out....

So, here we go, I hope it passes muster with you guys, I think it is kind of cool and something not seen everyday, thanks for looking guys....

  3. Twelve O’clock High………the opening scenes are amazing…….saw a trailer for Masters of the Air…….no thank you ……to shiny and to much CGI……why the hell they didn’t look at original…….only time my father took me to the cinema, to watch BoB when it first came out I was 9……..not the greatest piece of cinematography but at least the aircraft were real in the flying scenes …

I was thinking Red Fox and am wondering about Cammo masks and not vinyl. And by the way….I’m not sure I an any where near qualified to do a WIP with this crowd. My talents at best would be classes as a ‘glue bomb’.  My talents are mediocre at best and I build like a snail.

Jeff, I am about to start on the roundels etc using Montex masks, so stay tuned on my WIP. As for camo masks, just completed those using AK Putty. Seriously you will be fine to post a build and the Tamiya Mossie is such a sweet build, just go for it. ………As an aside when I was on TOS I never posted anything of my builds, here no problem whatsoever………and I reckon my skill levels (very mediocre IMHO ) have increased in showing my builds……

Thanks Carl, not sure about all the decent on the inaccuracy, like you the nay sayers will not deter me as it is my model , that aside I do know the MkVI Mosquito had a variety of engines the Merlin 21,22,23, or 25 and all had little things that were a bit different. So I think we can take some of what the ‘experts’ say with a grain or two. At least that is how I’m looking at it. So we should be good 👍

Looking forward to your Mossie build Jeff, the RedFox instruments are gorgeous, I think i photographed them in my WIP…….

    More items today:

First, from Takom, their French light Tank Renault Ft Char Canon/Berliet

Turret (No.1003) in 1/16 scale. I've been looking for this kit for some time.

The Girod or cast turret is easy enough to find but the Berliet turret version of this kit

with its riveted plate turret is not so easily found. I know of only one

place that sells this kit and its in Hong Kong!  Anyway, I'm happy to have

found it.  The kit comes with a 1/16 resin figure. Nice!

Also today, another set of Friulmodel tracks. This time their  ATL-168

French R 35.  I'm hoping these will fit the Tamiya kit. The Tamiya kit has

excellent link & length tracks that happen to be very tiny. I think it will

be nice to fit these tracks to the Tamiya kit for the added weight .
