  1. Thanks Carl, would have been nice to meet up but sounds like you had your hands full. Like I said, it was great to see fathers with their kids, and whole families there. We have to get the young involved, someone has to buy all our stashes when we get old. ☺️ Thank you very much Martin! The Airfix kit is still a much better and more accurate start in 1/24 than the Trumpeter, but holy, you're right, it does need a lot of work. ModelMonkey has since released some amazing resin upgrade parts...but too late for me. ☺️ The show was great, and always fascinates me to see the talent out there. Lots of, "How did they do that?" moments. Hopefully there will now be more shows ahead for everyone. Richard
  2. And finally my own entry, didn't win anything but it was fun to enter something and it made me finish it after five years!
  3. It was a good show, and obviously there was a pent up demand for one because it was crowded despite the weird weather. Carl and I must have crossed paths at some point but missed each other, however I did meet up with a couple of old friends from IPMS clubs in other cities I lived in...in previous lives. It was good to see plenty of families there too, indoctrinating the young ones. The aircraft table was easily the busiest with the most entries. I sort of expected more entries on the armour table, usually it's packed to the edges. Still though, so great to see what people have been up to during COVID. Carl covered all the categories well. I behaved and only bought one kit, a Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-29A for a steal of a price. Anyway, here are a few of the large scale aircraft entries. Just quick snaps with my phone so apologies for the quality. Richard
  4. Kits World does a Mustang III sheet (KW132009) which has the 112 Sqn. sharkmouth...and although it is for a Mk.III it should fit a Mk.IV. Richard
  5. Thanks Rob. Looking at photos and reference books, the paint was not nearly as glossy as the Museum example. It appears that the finishes seen at the time ranged from quite matte to a slight sheen. I imagine the glossy paint finish on the Museum restoration is easier to maintain. Richard Here is are a couple of photos from 1939, 112 Eskadra. One of them is a P.11a, but its finish looks quite fresh and more matte.
  6. Don't know if this will help, but these are a couple of photos I took two years ago on a trip to Poland. From what I understand , during this latest restoration they matched the Khaki to paint patches and oversprays that were hidden under overlapped panels and inside panels. It turns out to be much closer to brown than green or olive. I've seen it compared to RAF Dark Earth, with a little green. I'm no expert on Polish colours yet, but from what I have read they took pains to get the colours correct. Others here may know more. Richard
  7. Emptying out a closet as we speak, just in case. Thanks Carl, I realized I had joined here a while back, but forgot. Good to see familiar names I haven't seen for a while, and their work. Hope you're doing ok too! Richard
  8. I've been working on an Airfix Mustang for a while, and have just started another. Of course the ModelMonkey correction parts came out after I am almost finished the first one, but they will save so much time and effort for the second one. The Trumpeter kit is just not a contender if you want a good-looking Mustang. As for the Tamiya Mustang, to be honest there really isn't much that it needs. There are some refinement parts in resin and photo-etch from various manufacturers, but those only enhance an already great kit. My 1/24 Airfix Mustang IV so far...long project.
