    Fixing seams

Good point Rick,a friend of mine who is into auto modelling, saw my tube of Tamiya putty on my bench, and asked me"why are you paying for that? Go to any auto shop, buy their scratch and dink filler. Its the same stuff, just you don't pay someone to put it in a tube 1/10th the size, and then pay twice the price"? Let us know how it works?
  2. Its blowing a blizzard here,,,,,,just wondering if I should go out dressed in damp tissue?.........seriously,nice review.

    Fixing seams

The epitomy of this site to me,is how some of the worlds finest share with humility, and encouragement.

It works with the white as well. Bet we got the tip from the same site!
  5. Whilst the maestros of this site evidently do this effortlessly, may I offer a tip to us mere mortals.(OMG you guys are GOOD). I have seen many photos of putty liberally "splathered " over seams/joins. So,to minimise clean up,apply as appropriate Tamiya tape either side of the guilty seam.I have only ever done this with Tamiya putty.Spread the putty on,leave 30 seconds, then wipe with nail polish remover. Then whip the tape off,and give it another "lick",to knock down the ridge left by the tape edge.ET VOILA! a 2 mil wide area (yes it could be more) left to sand, and minimal rescribing.Hope this helps someone!
  6. Shakes head yet again....what a joyous load of pure talent this site has.
  7. This forum must be getting the best modellers ever.....loving the posts.
  8. Ya,so easy.....coughs and tips hat.
  9. i think I should sell seats for the group Furricane Fondle.
  10. And I'm in the pew behind Grant......no more room for further rows.
  11. Thanks for the interest fellas. Blame Grant for the patient tuition,or you would never have seen the pics. Thanks Grant!!! And yes,the FW 190 and 262 in flight together, taxiing in tandem....mmmwwaaaahhh. Woodshed,OMG man you picked the wrong day........and no ramp close ups?????Dave,I hope in NZ you got to touch the Mossie.I never knew life was incomplete prior to inserting ones digit in a gun port in a Mossie's nose. And Rick, both the 262 and 190 are replicas out of Virginia Beach. Should any be interested,I have more pics of some old jets and various close ups. Juat say aye,and I will post them Cheers Guy.
  12. Martin,if you "youtube" Hamilton Airshow 2013 you will find some great stuff. It was a mind blowing show....But as Max Boyce used to say......"I know, because I was there". And honestly,I didn't kiss the Mossie.
  13. Well,it changed the order I posted them in! The photo of the Lanc,Mossie,2 Hurricanes and a Spitfire shows a jaw dropping experience. As "the guy on the mic " said....."geography and schedules mean you will never ever see this again,so I am going to shut up,and let you enjoy the Merlin magic" There really is something better than the sound of a Merlin......NINE of them. (The next day 2 Spits were up,one broke down on the Sat).
  14. The "when" I don't know, good question. The what I believe was duct tape.Originally used to seal ammo boxes. It was actually used not so much to protect from foreign bodies, but to prevent the guns from freezing. It had also the then unknown but co-incidental benefit of preserving the integrity of the air flow.
  15. I remain aghast at the fantastic work the creators, admins ,etc of LSM have done. Not without help.It would not have happenned if the equivalent team from WNW Fans had not "gone with it" No idea actually who approached who........nor should it matter to the avid viewer. Simply said, the rightful love of WNW could have at worst split 2 great sites,or at best, complicated things as we we switched sites to follow builds.Keep it up Guys, you are creating model heaven.I hope this is a lasting marrige.
  16. This is exactly what is going on in this site Rick.I am actually an expat Englishman, and had to google the Royalaires!! The way prople are drawn together under the umbrella of a love of the plastic/resin/plastic stuff, just makes me smile.I contacted Grant over in SP&R when I saw he was living where I had one of those expensive English educations. It turns out I have played golf in Rhodesia where he was a member, eaten at the same restaurants in Bermuda, and actually much more. Now it seems you have an affinity for Guelph. It's wonderful....may this site stay so friendly.Oh,by the way.....Hiya Rick!
  17. Well....Hello. Granted I am here because of Lovett, and have told him privately how great this site is.Then it occurred to me that that is not entirely fair.Although quiet,I am a daily visitor, and love LOVE the site. Why? Because of you amazing and amazijngly skilled people.I get double vision on Jeroen and Jamme's{checked the medical dictionary for a Bertl),can't work out what Martin is going to "Hatch" next (something to natter about)?,and never Cees to love whatever Doogs gets up to........and that's mentioning but a few of you. Creators/Admins...........Bloody fantastic job.........THANK YOU.
  18. There are a good few of you on this site that inspire/frighten me at the same time. I may not be overly active, but please know that thanks to the sublime skills of the craftsmen, and the unstinting hard work of the site organisers, this site gives me a daily HUGE head shake and smile. Moderator, please feel free to post this in a more appropriate place?......Now for a Heineken. And I blame the spelling of my earlier post on Dutch beer.
  19. Dare I say "rid'em ride'em COWHIDE....for those that remeber!
