Bomber_County 10,159
The ZM is due for the spray booth, so it’s time to decide which P38 to build. After the ZM I fancy a challenge and have decided on the Eduard P38. The Tamiya will be a breeze after this. The Academy re-box has fit issues plus shoe horning the exquisite resin cockpit is going to be interesting. With time on my hands (furlough) it’s time to get started...... The contents...... Had these books for awhile, so good reference.....
Peterpools 3,467
Phil Nice choice and a surprise for me passing up the Tamiya kit but I understand your reasoning plus having the Eduard kit in the already in the stash. Will be following with great interest Keep 'em comin Peter

The rest of the Brassin will go on to the Academy kit. Having now a much needed resupply of cleaners, thinners etc, I can in parallel carry on with the ZM. The main reason for doing the Eduard was the ZM was such a breeze, I wanted to stretch myself again........only time will tell......a couple of pics of opening things up and adding PE....
Peterpools 3,467
Phil Great plan and the PE screens look so good. This is why I kept posting the NON Large Scale Forum needs to be moved to be just after Armor and aircraft builds - this is a build forum and right now, it's buried where so few of the guys even look. I just don't understand why it was placed at the bottom of the pile, when there is such excellent work being done. Keep 'em comin Peter

There seems to be a trend, be cost or space about twins being done in 48th.

Bomber_County 10,159
So this has taken over with the little bench time I have, the resin is sublime, small at 48th but really nice detail. The separating the casting blocks was tricky but satisfying. So booms complete and now slowly putting the pit together..... 7

Cheers Rob Thanks Rob, I was worried nobody would see the build. The cockpit is a amazing for resin, just almost falls together. I’ll put some interior green on tomorrow then it should start to sing a little. The booms went together well. As this only the second Academy I’ve done it’s not to shabby so far......

Bomber_County 10,159
Ok I spoke to soon, in reading (always a bad idea)......the rudders and fins on the Academy are skewed from the vertical by around 3-5 degrees......and they are.......the fix is cut them off and make them vertical.............let’s see when I get to that stage........ 3
GazzaS 9,206
Sorry Phil... didn't see you down here! I've done a couple cellar builds down here, too. So, I'll try to remember to scan this far down. Those PE screens look great, and I bet all of the resin detail will look sweet painted up. Strappin' in!

Jackster 632
Found you! I agree that this should be moved up the menu a bit to make it easier to find. I am not really familiar with this aircraft, so will be nice to see it come together, good start Phil.

The P38 and P47 were the first 8th AF bomber protection.......glad to have you onboard....
