Tank Ta-152 Willi Reschke

Recommended Posts

Here are some pics of my Ta-152 from Zoukei Mura on a diorama called „Willi Reschke“.

The model was built out of box with EagleCals decals. The pilot is from Aires and the fuel barrel out of a Tamiya set with a hose out of lead-wire.

Paints came from Tamiya and Gunze. The metal surfaces were painted with Alclad.

I made the engine-cowls open- and closeable. Lots of sanding and plastic sheet needed. Won‘t do it again.

You mastered the TA-152 nicely and the little scene looks great. I have no idea, how you managed to get the cowlings closeable and looking right, when closed. I tried the same and failed, despite working on different solutions, even with bended PE hinges. Since then, I haven't touched a ZM kit, but have some in my stash and hope for the better.

Cheers Rob

Very nice indeed Kai. Love the subtle weathering and day to day wear.........congrats.......the 152 wings always look to slim and elegant for such a brutish fuselage.....

Thank you!

I kept weathering to a minimum simply because these birds had no time to weather! Neither from flying hours nor time in the unit they served in.

ZM Ta-152 is not exactly Tamiya's shake & bake kits, nevertheless your Ta is very impressive Kai.  like the base as well. Well done.

Cheers

Martin

Thanks Martin, much appreciated!

Very nice job, Kai!  Really love the paintwork on this one.  Great Diorama!

What is the symbol with the tiger and propeller?

Thank you Gaz! Really appreciate that!

As far as I remember it‘s the personal emblem of Willi Reschke.

Thank you Rob!

I only managed to make the complete cowl-halfs removable. Other things were impossible.

I have the ZM He-219 in my stash which I hopefully will build once...

Excellent ! :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2: Love the attention to detail like the unpainted areas showing with the cowl flaps open

Thank you very much!

With Alclad or AK extreme metal unpainted areas are easy to paint nowadays.

Looked that up now in the Ta-152-bible:

It seems to be the emblem of III./JG301 and not the personal emblem of Willi Reschke.

Very nice build! I wish I could find one of those kits to build myself but they're not out there. The figure looks like a Neanderthal with sausage fingers. I know it's not on you...your paint job did it some justice.

The craftsmanship, detail and color is fantastic.  The paint schemes for these fighters is pretty detailed compared to some fighters of the period.  The engine and interior bring me in to the plane.  I am in the middle of getting the confidence and the capability to make the grass look as good as you did.  Now I know who to ask when I have made a mess of my landscape. :unworthy: Job well done, as always, Kai!

Thanks for your feedback Matt!

You are totally right regarding the figure. When I got it I had the same thoughts like you! Really has a head, face and fingers looking like a Neanderthal.
Maybe these were the last available pilots to fly a Ta-152...;)

Thanks for your feedback Frank. I appreciate that much!

I always liked the late war german camouflage schemes with a mixture of unusual colors, their variations and even unpainted areas.

Regarding the grass: I had the same problem you describe. I solved it by buying the best available grass-mat from model-train suppliers (e.g. HEKI) and I also found some suppliers when I was at the SMW 2019 in Telford. I also tried it by myself (with mixed results) but the mats are not that expensive and look really good.

Hi Kai, I have seen many of your posts and am astounded at your skills, I need to know how you can build so many models of such high quality so quickly!! I tend to take way too much time and flit from one unfinished build to the next then back again. Amazing work and I am envious. Keep it up
