Thank you all for your feedback and sorry for the  late reply.

I’ve been at the 41st celebration of my Highschool exam (41st because of the Covid-restrictions last year) in my hometown in northern Germany.
I will continue with the build next week.

Today I managed to paint and assemble the engines. Only painting of the compressor wheel and inner parts of the turbines necessary.
I used AK Extreme Metal, Alclad II and Tamiya Weatherine Sets to achieve the results.

This is how the original looks like:

And my interpretation:

Exhaust tubes:
Impossible to remove these ejector-pinmarks.
Luckily not visible when assembled.

Next step now will be the assembly of the fuselage mid-section.

Looks great to me the exhausts

Just a small heads up on the light set

I have taken a good look on my set and iff i see it right the landing lights and taxi light are on at the same time.

So far what i can tell is its taxi light on landing light off ore the otherway.

Thats what i found in my references

Keep up the great work

Hi Mark

Doesn't sound right that both the taxi and landing lights would be on at the same time or both off.

Thank you all for your nice feedback.

I investigated a little bit regarding the landing- and taxi-lights, Mark.

They can be switched on separately by the crew. It depends on the rules of the wing where the aircraft is operated (at least valid for the Tornados of GAF Wings). In some wings the procedure is given to light both when taxiying to the runway (e.g. when it’s dark outside). Others have different procedures for ground operation.
When in flight you are right: only landing-lights used.

Thank you Kevin!

After a small pause I was able to continue with the build.

Made greater progress with closing the fuselage rear, gluing the fuselage front to the rear, assembling the intakes and the preparing the thrust-reverser flaps.

Gluing the fuselage front to the rear was a little more demanding since I had to integrate the platine with all plugs attached.

I was very happy that the test of the electronics after the assembly was successful.

rework of the panel behind the cockpit. Gap was too big.

Now I can go on with the rework of the model: filling, sanding and rescribing. Not one of my favorite tasks…😉

Amazing progress - just so many individual details and parts you had to orchestrate and come together. Amazing work. And now add in again all the electronics ... a boat load of work successfully accomplished.

Thank you Peter.
Fitting of the front fuselage to the rear part with fit problems and the electronics to include was a demanding task. I’m happy that this is behind me now.

Thank you Mark.
I‘m happy that all lights work after the assembly. No more chance now to correct without big effort.

The Tornado is in the rework station at the moment. That’s why I didn’t post an update here for a longer time.

Also a bigger problem occurred when the LED in the left wingtip didn’t work anymore. Luckily I had 2 spares left over from the set which I didn’t use.

I had to make a cutout on top of the wing as far as possible along panellines and remove the LED and solder the replacement one to the cables. I’m happy that the surgery worked and that the problem appeared already in this stage of the build.

Now I have a another section with a bigger rework necessary.

This is how it looks like:

LED changed and cutout refitted

cutout sanded and rescribing still to be done

light working again. Will look more red in the end when the glass is also painted red.

Thats it for today. Will post an update when all rework on the complete model is done.

Kia

Outstanding work and a modeler after my own heart - backtracking and re-doing what needs to be done. The replacement of the two in-op LEDS looks perfect and when you finish up with the re-scribe; perfect!  Always seems to be something that might need a rework and sometimes it seems never ending. I try to pick a point of it's good and blends in well the build and call it a day.

Looking so good
