Interesting Martin. I've never tried the salt method so I look forward to seeing how your Mug-29 turns out. :)😄

Thank you guys , the effect is minimal, almost thinking about using black splatter mask/ stencil. Would be cleaner.

I used some coarse steel wool, like on the first pic, when I airbrushed my Mig-31 and liked the effect. The risk of color flowing under a mask is practical zero and by varying distance and orientation, you have a truly random pattern. Another benefit is, you see the panel lines clearly while spraying and fill in marbled color for individual panels.

Cheers Rob

Thank you so much for your support guys. I’m in the process of melting decals with solvaset. HDL strong= sheets of plywood strong. :)

also mixing some washes to match the photographs.

Talk about a weathered look. Had you wanted such a result, you’d have struggled to reproduce it …

Thank you for your support guys.

What did I learn :

Using primer could be beneficial.

Solvaset etches into the AK Lacquer

Some decals are better then another

Scribing never ends

Clean your airbrush you lazy pig.

Hi Martin

I'm back and catching up. Ernie's present surely is a gem and I'm amazed, no, close to being blown away by the work you are doing - looking so good. Just love your repair to the canopy and the motherly care the kit is requiring.

I do have a policy I stick to: If I receive a kit or anything I purchased on line and receive it damaged, I couldn't care less about what the vendor says - it's their problem not mine. If a new item isn't sent out asap, I stop payment immediately and let PP or my CC company deal with it.

Keep 'em comin

Peter

Thank you Peter. Few clicks from last night session. Since I didn’t prime it, I’m ripping paint as I go and lerx cracked, so that will be another fun to mix the paint to match etc. however static discharge tubes arrived from Master, boy the are tiny.

This thing is almost done. And I’m not enjoying it at all. Partially it’s my own wrongdoings, touching wet paint, loosing parts etc. it’s probably my worst work to date. I’m gonna finish it only out of obligation to this GB. I use to built better when I was 16.  This is trashy

Positively trashy, I might add ;), I like the worn look of your Mig Martin.
I know the feeling, I only wear my glasses on night drives in the car. Would I wear them permanently, I would feel like half death, It's a too hard decline to get used to. Luckily my eyes are better now, than some years ago. Doing a lot of outdoor activities with wide views and not only staring on tiny plastic parts through magnifiers and onto computer screens helps a lot.
I also know the feeling to not get the right ambition for some builds, without having an obvious reason, but good to see that you pulled through. It happens, but then there are builds, where it's hard to stop and that's the good news.

Cheers Rob
