A small update - I worked on the engine covers and got them ready (more or less) and started to prepare for the rigging.
Then I decided to test fit all the parts ready for now and took some pictures. I really really like how this build is progressing :)

The last few days I was finishing some small things here and there, patching and repairing damage etc. Also I started to repare for the rigging. This is the first time I will use the gaspatch turnbuckles and I warmed up with the tail - I declare the tail ready for now. I still ahve some repairs to do on the upper wing and then It will be glued and the rigging will start. AT the moment it is not glued and ailerons are also not glued. I plan to try doing my own wooden propeller if I fail I will use one of those supplied by the with the kit :)

Here are the picture and as usually any comments, question constructive criticism and tips are welcomed.

Best regards,

Sasho

Sasho - WOW, really loving this build. For some reason I was never a fan of these German aircraft, but after seeing your work, I am going to have to add one to the stash, and build it soon! Love the wood fuselage and the wings, great job with the small details that really make it stand out!

Well I'm ready   :).

Today I finished the wooden propelelr made from 7 thin wood layers and then carved with the Dremel and sanding sticks. At the begining of the next month I will maybe change the base, but for now it will be with this one.
As usually any comments, constructive criticism or question are more than welcomed!

best regards,

Sasho

Sasho,

I've just caught up with this superb build.

It's a real inspiration to me.

I've got the same kit but I was intending to do a version with a painted fuselage as I wasn't sure I could do the bare timber effect correctly - I'm still doubtful I can but having seen your's I'd like to try. Could I please ask how did you do the 'toothed' joints to the planks? Did you cut some sort of a serrated mask?

Regards

Russell

Hi Russell,

Thank you for the kind words for my build!

There is no mysterie behind the joints of the planks - it is just tamiya tape cut off with a scalpel.

By the way go with the wooden planks - if they didnt turn as good as expected, you can always paint over it!

Best regards,

Sasho

I also give a hearty "Bravo!", Sasho.

Your woodgrain is superb. It's bad enough I have over 20 kits in various stages of completion. The more outstanding work I see on these WW1 kits the more I want one.

I'm looking forward to your next 'Master Class'.

Regards
