Kev Morley
Well taking the plunge with the burly Lancaster by WNW/Border Models So far very nice.....the clears are very fragile but I've moaned about that for far too long 😆😆👍 4xMerlins RR's are very nice indeed. Bit of paint for the job. The wheels are huge 😮😮 Bomb time 😆😆👍 Office area Internal detail is outstanding shame its going to all disappear 😔 Front end buttoned up, bye bye detail 😔 Bomb bay is lovely Big tail fins 😮😮😬😁👍 Bit of a dry fit of the fuselage rear area, all good 😁👍 Looking forward to the rest of this build and its made me want to get hold of some of the WNW stuff, so Ive got hold of the Gotha, Sopwith and the LVG C.VI. I'll more than likely post some progress when I get them started, might need abit of input on those one's. Never done any WWI stuff 😬 Thanks for looking, I'll post some more updates in the future. 😉👍

Merlin's look mighty good and the kit details are simply amazing. Will be following with great interest.

DocRob
Welcome to LSM Kev and thank you for showing us your build. There was a lot of talk around the Lanc specifically and Border in general, so it's good to see this beauty being build at last. Your work looks great and it's really a shame, that so much of the inner detail will be hidden. I thought about building one as only a half plane, leaving away the second fuselage half. But then, I came back to sanity and followed my old rule, not to build planes larger than twin engine ones in large scale. As an afterthought, I have to rise my hat to the PR branch of Border, This relatively new company hit the net with lot of speculations about the Lanc's situation and topped everything with their 35 scale issues. They have only three planes in their portfolio, but are spoken about like a big fish . Good or not, that's for us to decide. Cheers Rob

Since HGW just released belts and masks I’m really interested in building one.

GusMac
Lovely work on the Lanc and the Stuka Kev. The bomb bay of the Lanc alone is as big as many kits!

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted July 21 Administrators Share Posted July 21 Nice, nice, nice, Kev! The kit is sure stunning, but like you, I’m disappointed by the clear parts. FYI, you MAY wish to check out the 1/32 Lanc wheels offered by Barracuda Resin here in the US. The Border kit suffers the same fate as the HK kit: very poor wheels. The hubs have very, very sparse detail. The wheels were developed by Mike Swinburne for my postwar RCAF patrol bomber build, but one thing led to another, and Roy brought out a full line of Lanc wheels: both smooth tread for wartime Lancs, and the block tread for my build, PLUS, they’re available in multiple scales. Those wheels will fill in the only real weak spot on this kit. Oh, and what an entrance onto LSM! Welcome aboard. Regards, Ernie
