JohnB
Making some nice progress on this one now. Mildly surprised!
Peterpools
Hi John More then nice progress on the Trumpy Corsair - looking might good. I'm hoping you decide to go with the wings in the up/folded position, so you won't have to deal with all the issues you had on the Skyraider. For me when a kit has movable panels, options how to display the wings and panels, they more left open seem to be the best option and way to go. Have you made any decisions yet?

I'm tentatively planning to spread the wings but we'll see just what sort of headaches are associated with that vs folding 'em.
Peterpools
John You're a braver man then me - going for the wings unfolded. Fingers crossed.

GazzaS
Nice fade on that pretty green cowling, John. Gonna do some hairspray chipping?

All that is Gaz is some green zinc chromate on the inside. It won't be visible when I paint the outside GSB. The cowling is clear plastic.
Kaireckstadt
Nice progress John and good decision to do the spread wings. Looks better for me than the folded version.
Spitfire
Spread wings do it for me, I always like my builds to be buttoned up and showing the complete airframe, for me the only excepton would be for multiple builds on a carrier flight deck where space was at a premium. Cheers Dennis

Cheers Dennis I usually prefer the spread wings too but I'll make my final decision after doing some test fitting, etc. This kit has a lot of toy-like features which make things more difficult. 🤪
JohnB
Some progress today but I think I see a headache coming on. The way the outer wings attach to the inner stubs looks to be problematic. They are supposed to "clip" together which I'm sure precludes having them spread and look acceptable. I'll have to work with 'em but I figure I will wind up folding them. 🤪
JohnB
I replaced the crappy kit exhausts with some pieces of a old window blind! They look just right in my opinion and a darn site better than the kit ones.
Kaireckstadt
Great idea with the replacement exhausts. Looking very convincing John! Curious how you will go on with the wings.

I've decided to model them folded but looking at the way they are supposed to be attached concerns me. Looks to be a very high cuss-factor operation! I'll paint the model first then tackle the wing attachment. Fingers crossed. 🙄
Peterpools
John Right with Kai, nice open field running with replacing the exhausts, yours look a million times more realistic. the Trumpy Corsair is a hand full reflects the time period of movable everything. I'm still leaning for folding the wings as after all is said and done, folding will be a lot less struggling and less of a cuss factor then extending them. Pulling for you either way.

Fingers are crossed so we will see. 🙄
Peterpools
John Agreed, folding will be easier but surely no picnic, after all, it's an early Trumpy kit. I'll be following all the way.

Peterpools
John GSB paint looks mighty good. One extra bonus with gloss paint - you can decal and use pn washes right on top - not clear gloss is needed, just as a sealer.

Could be a high cuss-factor undertaking but we will see. 🙄
JohnB
I don't seem to be able to find any satisfactory 1/32 Navy decals for this build. You'd think there would be some sheets around but the only one I have been able to find is a Print Scale #32-023 which has two a/c on it. However, they are in Ukraine and there is a note attached there could be shipping delay due to shipping carrier problems. Would any of you have this decal and would you sell it to me? Thanks. JohnB
I'm going to put this one aside (not on the SOD) and get back to it when I can finally locate some decals. Y'all don't seem to be very interested anyway judging from the very few posts, etc. Later!
Peterpools Posted yesterday at 11:13 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:13 AM Sorry to hear that John, as I was enjoying the build thread of an early Trumpy kit with its many movable parts and fit issues. Hope the decal issue ends quickly. I took a look at my go to vendors and they didn't have anything for your build. I have a very slim decal stash and noting in there at all for a F4U-4.
