My panzer Iii's book says that they used up the remaining hulls from J, L and M's. So I based mine on a L. ...

Heya Ron ... Do you have the book reference handy? - (book, author, publisher & page number)...

None of mine refer to 'remaining hulls' being used ... Mind you - they don't elaborate very much on the N, save for what I've mentioned above.

This book of yours looks like a reference with a bit more history on the type ... I'd be interested to look at the werk numbers for the designated units!

TIA

Rog :)

Some new items today;....

First, from Eduard a set of masks for the Tamiya 1/48 F4F Wildcat (EX092).

Second, from Zoukei-Mura is a photo-etch wood grain stencil (SWSO8-MO7)

Type 1. In 1/32 meant for their Ho 229 kit. Looked interesting..... Thought

I'd give it a try. I also have their Type 2 stencil coming. This thing is made of

very thin, flexible photo-etch. I'm a little concerned about the durability of

this thing....We'll see.

Lastly, from Eureka Model Accessories some more of their scale metal tow

cable (LH-02 0,75mm). I highly recommend this stuff.....beats trying to make

string look good!

The ZM wood grain stencils were made by RB Models. I've used one for a few years. You have to be careful it's doesn't snag on anything. If ZM doesn't have instructions for it, the RB ones recommend soaking it in thinner rather than scrubbing it to remove excess paint buildup.

The biggest problem is it doesn't always fit where you want it to.

Thanks, I'LL probably soak in tamiya AB cleaner in a shallow dish.

I found a 1/16 scale offering made by ship kit makers Artesania Latina

online...ordered it..but, who knows when I'll get it. Also saw some from Tetra,Liang,

and Voyager....interesting products, looking forward to trying them out.

They seem very flexible... I wonder if they can be used on 1/16 pioneer tool

handles? We'll see.

There are many different wood stencils out there. I tried a few and had the same prob like Carl and you have to take care, the sprayed wood texture color isn't to thin, running under the template. I prefer the oil color method, you can use it everywhere and have absolut control over grain and color rendition.

For my ZM Horten, I bought a dedicated set of woodgrain decals from Uschi van der Rosten, which I may use for my build.

Been thinking about getting this for some time......

Found one at Andy'sHobbyHeadquarters for a halfway decent price....

It's CSM's  Ehrhardt E-V/4 M.1917 (CSM 35010) in 1/35.

It's larger than CSM other armored car offerings. Looks good.....although

there's not much interior detail....the parts are well-molded and have nice

detail. There's five sprues in gray plastic and one small sprue in clear.

It has many decal/painting options; the instructions have color plates

for what looks like 9 or 10 options! It's a great model of an ungainly-looking

vehicle that must have struck fear in the hearts of the enemy.......after they,

Perhaps, ...stopped laughing. Anyway, I love CSM's armored cars....I have

most of them now. I see they have some more releases on the way including

a U.S. army subject.

I’ve got a recollection that AVM Arthur “Bomber”Harris was stationed with these in the Middle East, well before Bomber Command….

I think so, yes.  They were all over the Empire, keeping His Majesty’s Loyal Subjects toeing the line.  Quite honestly, I’m sure I know more than a few gentlemen my age or older from various parts of Asia Minor who most likely despise the sight of them as symbol of the heavy hand of The Crown.  But, that’s politics. What I’m interested in is how it’s a great kit of an little, (ok, Never) modeled subject.
And typical of what comes out of our two closely related Polish resin kit manufacturers, it is a gorgeous model.  Łukasz has also really embraced 3D printing as a way to get crisper details from the multitude of small parts on a typical biplane kit. His approach I’d brilliant. It makes precise assembly easier for a modeler with limited skills with these, and reduces parts count greatly as well.

Not really the right place for it, but a little blurb is doable.
The Wapiti was basically meant as a “Better DH.9a”. A new half metal, half wood fuselage, air cooled radial engine, and wings and tail were standard wood parts nicked right off the DH.9a. Later production switched from wood to metal as well.  The Air Ministry had specifically requested that proposals for the new design use as many standard “off the shelf” DH.9a components as possible. So it was evolutionary, not revolutionary.
And as with the DH.9a, it needed long range, a good bomb carrying capability, defensive armament, and provision to carry spare wear items as required, such as wheels, spark plugs, oil and filters, magnetos, etc, along with basic hand tools to conduct repairs in the field.  Finally gone was the critical but fragile radiator, pipes, etc for the Liberty V12.  I can understand the wisdom of that choice.

Today, an item from Ryefield Model.

It's their ; German Staff Car 82E Full Interior (5023) in 1/35.

I decided to buy this after reading a review on this forum of this kit.

Looks like a nice little kit. It includes a set of pre-cut masks, which will be

a great help for the many windows of this vehicle. Also some photo-etch , vinyl

or rubber tires, and decals. Will be a fun, quick build.

I am a great fan of Lukgraph kits, and have significantly contributed my share of decreasing their stocks, but the Wapiti is one that does not do anything for me …

A Facebook post from my LHS informed of new stock; this kit brings me back to when I was 10 or 11 years old. I had to have it.

This came today......

It's Takom's Soviet Heavy Tank SMK (No.2112) in 1/35.

I've been wanting one of these for some time.....Found

one at Sprue Brothers for a decent price. The kit was released in

2018 and looks good. It's big, with the upper hull measuring about 10 inches.

It has individual link tracks,.....(240 of them), some photo-etch, clear parts, and

copper wire for the tow cable.

      I like these odd , inter-war, Soviet subjects....especially the multi-turreted

tanks. Apparently, only one of these tanks was made and it did see service in

Finland. It's tracks were damaged by a mine, it was put out of action, and had

to be recovered later. Anyway, sure to be a cool build.

Had that one as well.  Are you going to build it or stash it?

It's definitely a build! OOB, though I may see about doing something with the door hinge pins - a weak point in the kit as I recall.

Yes indeed. It's a nice kit, I got one from Ernie long time ago and traded it for something silly. Almost immediately regretted . It took me a while to find another one.

I'd like to see your build. I had one of these years ago,but the kit was lost

during a move. I would like to make a helo kit...I heard that there is problems

with Takom's Apache instructions and decals...at least that's what that YouTube

Nigel guy said so......so, I'm holding off on that one. Meng is releasing their

Apache....interesting. I have an autogyro..by Miniart...Sorry, I'm thinking out

loud..in print. Anyway, got to finish the Brummbar.

BTW....not sure I'd ever jump from a helo....probably get scalped

by the blades.....anyway, given my size I'd drop like a stone.
