  1. A small update with some more progress on my A-10!

    Glued the wings together:

And in the meantime cleaned up some metal landing gears:

    The wings again:

This is going to be a big model!
    Tail section glued together:

And the fit is really pretty good! Ok, a sandpaper here and there, but nothing serious...yet.
I use so called leadrope for additional weight in the nose:

They use that stuff to keep the flags nice and straight! But it works here as well:

    On with the tails:

Still got a load of free time on my hands, so I'll be back soon with more on this kit, witch isn't really as bad as they say!

  2. And on with this project! The rear half glued together:

And here was the fit pretty good! I made some isolation for the cockpit sides out of Pritt buddies:

    It came out pretty nice:

And then closed the front hull section, it took some work to get is all nice and fitting, but I succeeded:

The front and aft section put together in a dryfit:

This is going to be a big model! A comparison next to a previously build F-18:

    More to come!

  3. Currently I'm working on this big A-10 from Trumpeter!

Big box with lots of plastic:

    And goodies..
    DSC04529.jpg

And to be honest; I'm in over my head on this one! The kit has several (a lot actually!) flaws; the cockpit for one to start with, it's just totally unacceptable due to the lack on detail!! Lucky for me, a True Details resin cockpit came along with it:

One thing from Trumpeter was quite nice, the ACES II seat, I think I'll keep that one:

Now, the resin cockpit after drybrushing:

    And painting:

And the seats, Like I said, I think I'll use the original (kits) seat (right) instead of the resin one, but I'm not sure yet, ejection handles still need to be attached on the resin one, and some seatbelts on the original one!

Installing the cockpit in the hull will be next! severe dryfitting showed me already that it won't be an easy task!
Guys, this will NOT be an easy kit to build, and to be honest, I could use some help here! So, if you have already build this one, or you know of some helpful sites and/or reviews, just let me know!
    I'll be back with more!

  4. You are absolutely right about that! Personally, I have a hate-love affair with Trumpeter! Every time I think, I will never buy another Trumpeter kit again, I watch myself buying another Trumpeter kit!

Fair is fair, this kit was good, and on some points even very good! On other points very disappointing, but I think they do that on purpose...Just to keep us sharp!

  5. Allright, in a few days time, ok, make that a few weeks time, I'm puttin on the colours on my Superbug!- So?

So what i like to know, no, let me start by telling you what I DO know; I know that the upper half is painted with FS36320 (Light Ghost Grey) and the lower half is painted FS36375 (Dark Ghost Grey)- Allright,So?

What I'd like to know is: what brand has the best colours? Is it Testors, or Gunze, Mr.Hobby perhaps?? I'm very interested in your answers, and tips regarding the colours of F/A-18F Super Hornet that I'm not aware of yet, are most welcome! Thanks! :)

  6. If you're into the American Civil War, there's also Winchester Virginia, Manassas Virginia, Appomatox Courthouse (which is just East of the Blue Ridge), and a whole bunch of other minor battle sites in Virginia.  There's not much left of the Fredericksburg Battlefield but last I knew there was a small piece of the stone wall that sheltered the Confederate army as they massacred the Federal troops as they advanced across the open field.  If you travel North along the blue ridge, you'll find Antietam battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland and if you go just a few more miles North into Pennsylvania, you'll find the greatest battlefield of the Civil War, Gettysburg, Pa.

Absolutely recommendable!! I've visited the US for 13 years in a row now, and this is very, very interesting!
