PanzerWomble
80 years ago the Paras finest hour came to an end . 10,000 dropped, along with the Polish Brigade ; 2,000 returned 10 days later. Five VC's were awarded after the battle. I saw an interview with a Hohenstaufen trooper years ago, who expressed how hard the Paras fought even when cornered and surrounded, still refusing to surrender. "They were not..... mummie's boys" he grimaced. I spent 4 days in Arnhem in 2015 , although the town and bridge were destroyed by the Germans after the battle (with great repercussions for the Dutch townsfolk) and then rebuilt after the war , there is still a lot to see with some well done museums . One for your bucket list
