    Anyone have any details?

There were speculation on another Forum about what happened and the Mods reprimanded the person who posted it and took down his reply. That forum has funny ideas but It was the same thing about the Motorcycle accident but it sounds like that’s it. A friend of ours here in the USA was killed on a motorcycle the same day Alan passed away exactly the same time but we’re 6 hours behind where Alan lives.

Thanks for posting this. You just took me down a rabbit hole of memory lane.   I saw your build and had to Google the one and only semi truck/trailer I built as a kid.  I think I might have been 10-12 yo. I bought the old SONOCO trailer and truck combo kit.
I see that Round 2 has reintroduced the tanker trailer once again.  So tempted….but I know better.

Your most welcome Scott. I have another Chevy Bison I’m building I’ll get a thread going soon on it as well.

Ok. It’s in. But talk about ‘shoe horning ‘ it in…. a very snug fit. And took a little finesse to get it in place with out breaking some of the fine fittings that are no longer visible. If I were to do this one again I think I would shave a little material off the lower channel of thew frame. No kne would even notice and kt would give a little more wiggle room. All the detail on the fuel and oil filters and lines are lost but I know it is there. Still a way to go yet but it is progression

Ok. Here is a tid bit I will toss in for anyone who doesn’t get the spring brake thing. As you know last week Cathy and I went to Ontario (CFB North Bay) to attend our daughter in law’s promotion ceremony. Of course we stayed with them and they have a couple dogs….( I am going somewhere here. Bear with me ) and I went out side to see one of them playing with a ‘frisby’… this ‘frisby’ turned out to be none other than a Type 30 spring brake diaphragm. This is inside the spring brake chamber that traps the air so the spring brakes ( park brakes) can be applied or released. The basic concept is air over spring. The air pushes against this rubber diaphragm which compresses the spring to release the spring brakes. And to apply the brakes for parking when the parking valve on the dash is pulled , releases the air and the spring unloads, pushing on the push rod which turns a shaft that is connected inside the brake drum to an ‘S’ cam where there are rollers on the brake shoes and internal springs which apply the brakes. And to release the ‘park brake’ the driver pushes yellow button on the dash , which applies air to the diaphragm in the spring brake chamber which in turn pushes against the main spring and reverses the former process to release the park brake

That’s not a diaphragm that’s a “Pancake” lol. Well that’s what us old School truckers like me call it. I’ve changed a many of those have to cam the brake chamber or that front part of it will be like a rocket if you unbolt it without cam first. This has killed many truckers and mechanics that were inexperienced  changing these.

Your thoughts are like mine thanks for posting that pick. I only have about 6 Italeri 1/35 scale of that truck in the stash 😂. I’m thinking of turning it into a M932 truck tractor another one on my bucket list I need to build.

What yellow did you use on your Bison? I really love it! Those white spoke wheels really pop! Excellent job!

Thanks for the complement. I will have to look to see what paint I used. I think it was a Krylon color.

  8. This is a old AMT Autocar DC I’ve had for about 16yrs always undecided what till make till last winter. I decided to make it a Dump truck. I took my brother Bill’s old bed he gave me back around 1986 and re-do it. Bill bought a new AMT Autocar Dump Truck when it first came out in 1972. He painted the neighbors fence to buy it of course I helped I was 3yrs old. The cab shied and front was bad so I replaced it with a Ertl one I had. Here’s some pics of the bed and truck in progress.
