Hiya Ben,
That`s a nice conversion set and it should result in a great model but as a fellow Lancashire lad you should really be going for the 611 (West Lancashire) Sqn option based at Woodvale!
Cheers
Tony
Blimey didn't realise that. Might have to do that for old times sake.

The 615 squadron one in silver

Finally it's arrived! I only had chance for a quick scan but it seems excellent!
Thanks to Kagemusha's heads up I got the donor HK F.4 for £55 delivered from lucky model so it's cost about £120 all in so not to bad at all for a comprehensive conversion.
Watch this space I'll post some more pics tonight.

Eagle Editions do a set. Ben Summerfield should be reviewing before too long.
As we speak

Voted Meatbox so I've got some moral support for when I start mine.

PCM kits always need some fettling, but they are their own reward as you don't see that many at shows completed!
Keep slugging away, great to see another one of these being done.

Thanks folks,
Straightforward build,......whats one of those then Ben,....as if you`d know?!! The Aeromaster paints are the last I have,....I bought some in bulk from an E-Bay seller in the States who appears to have found some in bulk in an old lock up or bought an old Hobby Shop with lots of old stock left, plus a very kind person on Britmodeller who noticed that I used them said that he had some that he didn`t use so he sent them to me free of charge,.... so cheers for that Andy,...I`m immensely grateful.
Dennis,....you weren`t the only one expecting a series of Hurricane`s from PCM,......maybe they didn`t sell so well,...mind you they are already becoming as rare as rocking horse **** to find so somebody must have bought them all? Not guilty by the way,......I`ve only got four and two of those are already built,.......the remaining two are to be a B of B aircraft and a Sea Hurricane!
No update yet as I`m still attempting the nose art! Plus I`m waiting for a Tech Mod decal sheet to arrive from Hannants as I don`t have the correct sized upper and lower wing roundels in my spares box and the kit items are cracked into a million parts,
Cheers
Tony
Damn shame PCM never followed through with the Hurricane range, they're good kits. Although I reckon Tamiya will take care of that eventually, hopefully before Trumpeter/Hobbyboss do(although their 1/24 is one of their better efforts)
Those aeromaster acrylics were superb and they did all the proper camo colours. I think Hannants Xtra acrylics range is the nearest now to the same type of paint.
Guessing from the Techmod decals it's a polish one your doing?

The grey matters stuff looks top notch and the old Revell Hurricane still looks great. Have you ever considered doing a straight forward build!!
Also how the hell do you still have Aeromaster acrylics!?! They must be 15 years old!
Keep it up Tony.

Cheers Tony. You always manage to pick the interesting schemes.
Tempest looks great in high speed silver, almost a different aircraft. Well done completing ANOTHER PCM kit! You deserve a medal.

Glad you finally found your way here Tony! Hurricane is stunning. Share a few more of your builds with us.

It looks like you need to have the engines in place at least as a "mount" for the exhausts.

They also have the metal weight inside I believe

I think it'd be beyond me to fix that, the hood does seem a little square in its cross section, I don't think the windscreen is quite right either, Fisher have sorted that in their F8 conversionThe canopy is too low, too wide or both. It should look like this:
Anyhow, your progress looks great!!
99% finished. Tad more weathering to do and it's compete.
-
I believe it was the MkI R6915 that they got those from, that's the one that was hanging from the ceiling of the imperial war museum London. Very original aircraft.

Found out from a mate who worked on the BBMF that the little square on the fuel tank is a station keeping lamp for formation flying at night or in poor conditions.

I didn't pick up on the mass balance good spot! I'd be interested to see how the spinner looks after some re profiling, the prop blades could do with some to as they're to broad but not miles off.Yesterday I started sticking some bits together such as rudder, elevators, horizontals, ailerons and wings.
I noticed that the elevator horn balances and the horizontal stabilisers are hollow. These should be solid, so some filling is in order. The leading edges of the wings have some molding irregularities on them that prevents a good joint. Some sanding is needed, just a minor observation. The ailerons have quite thick detail on the top side, this should be sanded down a bit. The spinner has some square patches on the sides ( instruction plates?). These I sanded off. I also sanded the top of the spinner to a less pointed appearance. These are my observations so far.
Anyone else?
Cheers

Could do with starting a snags list thread for this kit.

Getting there.
What's your opinion about the stencils?
Cees
To be fair to Kitsworld they went on very well, they've missed a couple that can be made out in photos, like ones on top of the engine nacelles. Their walk ways gave me a bit of trouble though as they've printed them as a whole piece with a huge bit of carrier film in the middle so I used the kit ones which were tricky to put it politely!!

Looking great, I finally succumbed to this last night whilst in the hobby store.
Hurray! You won't be disappointed.
-
Are you planning on somehow correcting the "hood"?
What's the issue with it? Too Late now really.

Stencils went on nicely to be fair, a few more to do and it's Klear and wash time. Xtra decals were flawless as usual. I'm aiming for a slightly glossy finish when I'm done.

I haven't forgotten about this build, I've been waiting for a decal sheet to be released from Kitsworld with a really nice 263sqn one I've always wanted to do since it featured on the classic airframe boxart.
Well I got tired of waiting and ordered the Xtra Decal sheet even though it doesn't have any stencils at all, guess what got released two days later!! So I ordered the Kitsworld sheet too. They both arrived together this morning and I have to say I was really disappointed by the Kitsworld sheet, the decals themselves look like they were done on a home printer and the colours are weak, to add insult to injury they only give you the fuselage fighter bars for one side! I'd spotted this on their website a while ago and assumed this was why the sheet was delayed. It was a good job I ordered the xtra decal sheet! So my Meteor is now being finished as a 609sqn machine, I'm sure they'll issue a correction but ive waited long enough to finish this model. It's not all negative, the stencils are very good and apply nicely and have made the plain silver scheme look busier.
Not much longer to run on this one!

I'm torn at the mo. A few nice schemes where I could mask the squadron markings myself. It only comes with the large intakes so needs to be one with those, I like the early canopy too.
