  1. Good day thanks for the encouragement, just my second build. My first post was back in Mar. 2021 a MK ll universal carrier. The goal since retiring is to build all the vehicles, ships, and planes that my relatives had a connection with in WW 2. The Flower Class corvette is dedicated to my father in law who served on HMCS Dauphin. I have the Revelle kit 1:144 scale HMCS Snowberry that I will convert into the Dauphin. Right after my Archer post I opened the kit and all the photo etch and became in grossed with the scope of all the parts. I brush paint everything and with photo etch there is going to be a lot of planning. Then all the research to get on the Dauphin has taken just about all my attention. So I apologize for the very late response, this maybe a bit over my head for a third build. But slow and steady should in the race. Cheers Dennis
  2. Hey good day Harv, glad to hear from you. As I said to you before I am a pretty methodical builder almost a year since the universal carrier. I am just glad it turned out worth posting. This next project is going to take a lot of planning for brush painting, adding photo etch. cheers Dennis
  3. Thanks for the encouragement, it is my second build and first full diorama. Sorry for the delayed reply but this Corvette is going to be a beast. I am trying to build any vehicle, ship or plane that my relatives had a connection with in WW2.
  4. Sorry for the delay but got involved with next project, boy a lot to do on this one. The camouflage is from a company here in Canada Thatchweave. Great products. Thanks for your encouragement. cheers Dennis
  5. Thanks for the comments Martin. Sorry for the very late response, but started the next project and got very involved in the research portion. are you part of the modeling club here in Calgary? I have not joined since they have limited meetings since Covid. cheers Dennis
  6. Good day folks I have just completed my second build, after posting my first build a MK II carrier back in Mar. 2021. Tamiya 1/35 scale Archer, completely brushed painted and weathered. All done with Vallejo products, added Eduard photo etched set, and Thatchweave netting /scrim. First attempt at a full base. All scratch built. The Archer is representing the 3rd. Cdn. Inf. Div., 3rd. Anti Tank Reg., 4th. Anti Tank Battery C Troop Next up a Flower Class Corvette HMCS Dauphin the ship my father in law served on. Converting the 1/144 scale revell HMCS Snowberry. Maybe stepping out of early skill set so we will see how it goes. all comments and suggestions welcome Cheers Dennis
  7. thanks Harv for the comment. I wish I could say I whipped out pretty quickly but this little kit with the pe parts took about 8-9 months to build. I bought a few books on master modeling to read as well as lots of test painting on sprues etc. the last model i built was when I was 13, a 1;48 spitfire. As you can imagine it looked like it was put together very roughly. Now that I just retired, decided to built up some models that my relatives were part of during their time in the second world war.
  8. thank you for the comments. not sure if my first efforts were worthy of posting. The setting is temporary as it was just a test at creating a quick diorama. Will now get busy on a proper one, as I think the test looks okay.
