Kirk started following 1/32 Short Stirling , The Train and 1/18 AV-8B Harrier.

This is a brilliant collection of models.

So much to look at in this scene, and what a rate of progress!

Thanks for posting the update. What a shame about the original interior; it was a masterpiece. I wonder what went wrong? Is it an issue with the original kit or the kind of accidental mismeasurement that I make on a daily basis but you seem to skillfully avoid 😄? It matters not I suppose. The cargo seats look great too. Such sharp edges. Hope it all keeps coming together as this build is epic.

It's gone quiet again, Oliver. Have you secretly finished this while we weren't looking? 🙂
-
Daco could do worse than send Oliver one. 😂

I'm willing to bet that even watching you make a small cup of tea would be an education. PS/ Is there a Westland Lynx or an Aerospatiale Gazelle in your future?

What did I say?

I think someone else suggested the Tamiya 1:12 MP4/6 as an antidote; the 1:20 MP4/13 is also a Tamiya masterpiece. -

Perhaps another option might be to separate the nose section and depict the body on stands (as it often was during setup)? That way, noone has to know if it fits or not. -

If I find myself digging through my old photos in the coming weeks (unlikely, frankly) I'll post the picture. The other thing worth digging around for references on is the gearbox colour. I think McLaren used a magnesium alloy in this era and it has a unique finish rarely captured well in models. Hopefully the MFH book has this covered. 🤔🙂 -
I think that it is the combination of flawless detail work (no signs of gaps/filler/sanding/adhesive - regardless of zoom - ever) and the highly shaded/highlighted painting style. As you say Rob, unique.

I seem to recall seeing this engine at a show many years back and noticing these grilles on the cam covers present. Perhaps they were made by Honda but not fitted to race cars for access/weight reasons? Pretty odd in F1 to make parts for aesthetic reasons, I know - but I don't think that they are entirely fictitious. Whilst I think you were right to remove the kit mouldings, the PE replacements seem to lack the depth of the real thing. Very good job though. I hope you are still winning. -
Not a chance. This is epic. 🙂

I love how your individual components are more detailed than normal mortals' models.

Summer holiday? 😉
