Looks fantastic 👍

What's your pin wash of choice? Are you an oils user, or something else like Tamiya's or AK's panel line ranges etc?
-
Looking very good.

The right headlight facing the wrong way.. Edit - the right headlight as we look at the photo. In reality it's the left one on the tank... Back to my beer.....
-
Heheh very true...
-
Sold out already! Why did I choose to sleep last night.......🫢
-
Excellent work
-
Indeed it does 👍
-
Yep, makes perfect sense.
-
Thank you.

If you don't mind me asking - how do you do your weathering? Is it the chipping/hairspray method, or paint etc applied over the Maston Ultra Matt Beige?
-
Wow! You must have immense patience to sit there and apply all that weathering and wear.....and it looks incredible

Back on to the Abrams topic - my copy of the "M1A2 SEP In Detail" book you recommended was delivered earlier this morning. I've only had a quick flick through it but there certainly appears to be a huge amount of information and references - so thank you for the recommendation!

I'm sure the kit will still be available once you've finished your current stash - then the temptation might rise up again 😁
-
OK, again I want to stress that I do not want this to detract in anyway from your brilliant build log of the Abrams, but I thought you might be interested to know that Andy's HHQ YouTube channel has recently posted a detailed video on the Das Werk Leopard 2. As he says several times, it's still an early prototype so there are things yet to be added. But even from this early video, it's going to be incredible.

No mention of release date yet, but trust me, I will be scouring the internet on a regular basis so I'll let you know when the date has been announced. EDIT - Modellbau Koenig in Germany have it up for pre-order already: https://www.modellbau-koenig.de/en/Leopard-2-A7V-1-16-en Another EDIT - and it seems that Tamiya will also be releasing a 1/16 A7V as an RC kit: (photo courtesy of the Modellbau Bundeswehr Facebook group).

I have no wish to derail your thread, but with the recent news from the Nuremberg toy fair, I just wanted to say that despite your amazing work on this Abrams, I'm unlikely to start my own kit as previously mentioned.... This is why... https://www.das-werk-models.com/products/german-mbt-leopard-2-a7v

I for one, approve of your choice of turret support 👍
-
I'm certain you will manage 👍

Apologies for the poor lighting but hopefully you can see what you're looking for. Plus the parts are in white resin and haven't been primed yet. Unfortunately while I was setting up the best location for taking the photo, I dropped the part onto the only section of hard floor in the room!!! That's why there's only the one lifting hoop.... I'm confident I can make replacements out of brass wire etc when the time comes.

I'll take a look tomorrow and let you know.

I meant to post earlier today but forgot in the excitement of receiving my 1/16 M113 kit..... I was looking through my Abrams kit the other day and discovered that I'd bought some after market parts for a SEP V2 conversion, and in that upgrade kit was this: I'd completely forgotten that I'd bought that upgrade set. I can provide the link via PM if you're interested in seeing more.
-
Excellent - thank you. And I really appreciate you being open and helpful, and I'm loving watching your build progress. Thanks to your work so far, my kit has now made it to the very top of my build list - just need to finish the HobbyBoss Bergepanzer Buffalo ARV currently on my bench.
-
What a huge difference. Is that the same brass sheet you used for the other parts? And if so, what thickness do you use?
-
I'll drop you another PM. But an internet search does seem to show black rubber caps over the launchers, I'm guessing to protect them from the elements..... But there are bound to be experts out there
