CANicoll
Doesn't qualify for the Sandbox GB, not only in size and also starting a day early but pulled it out of the stash to get in the mood for the group build. Not a lot of parts and not even decals for the IPs, but I like the sand pink color and the markings. Planning on building the box-art aircraft - Mig Eater. The wings are movable but will keep them fixed in the retracted position. The fuselage is split top and bottom which eliminates that top seam - bonus!! The instructions are highly simplified and for some reason, they have been cut apart. Paint call-outs are also fairly general but workable. Wrong in some areas even with my very limited knowledge and research. I think I picked up this kit (years ago) at a meet or something but everything is there. Have dipped the canopies in Future and have the Eduard masks. But might use this build to try out the nail-brushes bought earlier from Amazon. Decals are colorful, but might be a bit thick - we will see. I expect this will be a quick build...

CANicoll
Making progress! Got the fuselage closed up now and a coat of primer, as I clear the bench for the SandBox GB. The fit of the Italeri kit is, well, not fantastic. As expected... But here goes. Talk about a simple front office?? Nose weight is some cut up solder and a couple of washers that fit really well. White glue to hold it in place. Below is upside down. Lots of toothpick painting More to come, finishing this as the paint on the Bf 109 dries in stages.
CANicoll
Messed up the mechanism that allows the wings to swing, but oh well. The link came apart as I was gluing the fuselage together. No worries. Wing is now fixed and got the base coat of Pink Sand. Need to get the masks on the canopy and get that painted, as well as attach a couple more of the under-fuselage pylons and armament. Still working on the engines/exhaust nozzles (Model Master Burnt Iron) and have the landing gear to attach. Gloss coat is applied so hope to get the nose art and markings on tomorrow. Definitely not the same fit as the Eduard Bf 109F-4.
CANicoll
Amazing what you can learn from even the older, simpler kits... As posted elsewhere, I only NOW figured out that the Eduard masking sheet can be cut up and used for additional masking. It's pretty useful and already in various stripes. Yes, I feel dumb... I've been using Tamiya tape for years.... Tornado is up on its landing gear and the canopy is masked and in place. Started on a few of the decals. After painting the canopy, the nose art and fuselage decals can be applied.
Peterpools
Chris Super nice work on an oldie (1991) but not really that old. for sure. Always nice to return to simpler kits once in a while, that for their day were state of the art and nicely detailed. But compared to today's offerings, pretty sparce. Still looks a Tornado wearing its pink sand cammo colors.
PanzerWomble
Tonka tonka tonka It looks as dubious a kit base as that shaguar I did last month TBH .🫤 For me with braille scale if I build it in a day or so it's ok , if I spend hours fixing crap manufacturing from 30 years ago , I loose interest quick . It's looking good though despite it's Italergyness.
CANicoll
PW, that is exactly it - not worrying about fixing the fit, just putting it together. Decals are thick but servicable. The nose sharksmouth were too big to fit as intended, but servicable anyway. Finishing this up so I can focus a bit more on the Bf 109 for the Sandbox GB.
