Keith Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Hi all this is my recently finished Eduard 1:48 Spitfire MK.Vc This is finished in the markings of a Spitfire MK.Vc A58-145 ex EE852 of 79 Squadron RAAF while based at Kiriwina, Trobriand Islands in December 1943. Codes UP-V and had a Girl Nose Art and the name Nipponese applied The build The construction was fairly quick and easy with just a couple of minor fit issues. And in my haste to get the cockpit in and the fuselage all buttoned up I forgot to add the two compressed gas bottles on the port fuselage behind the pilots seat DOH. Hadn’t realised till attaching the last few parts after the model was painted! I also broke the Aerial mast twice Never Mind! I wanted to create my own mask for this. I used the closest fonts I could find for the codes and serials and designed the roundels to the appropriate size on my cricut app I mainly used MRP paints as these are now my go to range (absolutely love em) but also I had to purchase a couple of Outlaw Paints for the appropriate RAAF colours and as with MRP paints they sprayed beautifully straight from the bottle. The Earth Brown and Azure Blue are MRP and the RAAF Foliage Green is by Outlaw Paints (First Time using this range) All camo was sprayed freehand The codes are painted RAAF Sky Blue and the serials are just the black primer (in hindsight I should have used Nato Black). I used the kit supplied stencils and the Nose Art and removed the carrier film (love them or hate them Items used as follows Eduard cockpit PE + Eduard seatbelts both supplied with kit + Eduard canopy masks supplied with kit Home made masks for all main markings Primers used Mr Surfacer 1200 grey + Mr finishing Surfacer 1500 black Paints used Mr Hobby SM201.
