RalphSarc Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Tamiya 1/35 Jagdpanther Late Version build thread (1/29/26). Winter GB! The German Jagdpanther Late Version (often representing the G2 variant) was a formidable World War II tank destroyer built on the Panther chassis, featuring a powerful 88mm PaK 43/4 L/71 gun. Late versions, produced from late 1944 to 1945, included features like a one-piece gun barrel, simplified engine deck, and sometimes lacked Zimmerit coating It served on the Eastern and Western Fronts. During the last stages of the war, limited German production resulted in small production numbers, shortage of spare parts, and shortened crew training periods of increasingly young operators. 2
RalphSarc Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 And we’re off to the races!!! Complete step one constructing the lower hull, suspension, drive sprocket and ideal wheels!!! I’ve built this kit before so it’s like revisiting an old friend!! 2
RalphSarc Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Road wheels, road wheel and more road wheel. Always do them before bed so I can sleep it off, lol!! 3
RalphSarc Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 I usually paint road wheels after they’re mounted the vehicle hull so this will s a new experience. Teaching an old dog new tricks, lol!!! 4
RalphSarc Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Also primed the lower hull and suspension build up. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The build is just moving along nicely. Looks to be a nice straightforward build like most Tamiya kits. Carl 1

I’ve built this kit several years ago and loved it so that it appropriate for our local scale model club winter group build. 1
RalphSarc Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 As I’ve said this is a new way of assembling, installing and painting a lower hull suspension. Actually I rather like the way the hubs are turning out. 4
RalphSarc Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 After watching several YouTube University videos from Panzermeister36 concerning painting German camouflage and winter white wash I thought I’d try his method of assembly and painting. So far I’m impressed. My prime color for the hulls and turret will be XF-4 (Yellow Green), XF-26 (Deep Green), XF-68 (NATO Brown) and finally XF-9 (Hull Red). The white wash will be differing shade of while mixed with tan, gray and blue sprayed over hair spray, my favorite chipping solution. Stay tuned!! Tamiya Paint Order!!! XF-90 Red Brown XF-93 Light Brown DAK 1942 XF-92 Yellow-Brown DAK 1941 XF-88 Dark Yellow 2 XF-89 Dark Green X-20 Acrylic Thinner Tamiya Lacquer Thinner Hey it’s not a kit, lol!! 2
RalphSarc Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Carried on this morning assembling the rear deck, exhaust, storage boxes and jack in steps 4/5. Fit like a clove!! 2
RalphSarc Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Drive fitted the upper and lower hulls!!! Now it’s looking like a Jagdpanther!!! 3
RalphSarc Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Between laundry loads I was able to assemble the main gun in steps 6/7 and dry fit it into the hull. 3
RalphSarc Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Once confirmed that the gun was in its correct position it was time to complete step 8 and assemble a few interior bulkheads, periscopes, seats etc before joining the two hull halves together. 2
RalphSarc Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Where were you in 1996 while my Jagdpanther was coming out of its mold, lol??? 3

RalphSarc Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Step 9 starts out joining the upper and lower hulls together. For this my super clamps came in handy to hold and let dry the two halves over night!! 3
RalphSarc Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 The upper and lower hull halves dried overnight. Time to build up the upper hull section, engine covers, cooling fans, periscope covers etc! 3

I was switching schools from university to art college. Realized attending the first one was a complete mistake and I should've been an artsy. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish. On 2/4/2026 at 9:16 AM, RalphSarc said: The upper and lower hull halves dried overnight. Found a Meng Panther A, a Takom Flak Panther and a RFM Jagdpanther. I was so tempted to start one but I don't have the space on my bench. 1
