chuckt5 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I want to cut some soft copper wire that is .3mm in diameter (pretty thin). Normally I would just use a wire cutter to cut it, but the problem with the wire cutter is it leaves the end all crimped and smooshed! Does anyone out there have a good method for cutting wire this thin that leaves the end relatively square and not sqaushed? Thanks in advance, chuckT.
Dave J Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Yes... Brand new knife blade... Nice hard flat surface... Place the blade where you want the cut and start rolling the rod back and forth with the blade to cut it... 2
Paulster Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 This is what I use. Works on soft wire and braided tow cables. Xuron Cutters 1
fmwsteve Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Hi Chuck, The other thing you could do is buy yourself a pair Xurcon Track cutters, these are specially ground so when you cut your wire it leaves a squire face on your wire and they are suitable for any non-ferrous metals up to 1.5mm O/D. You can even use them on thicker sprues. Regards FMW Steve.
chuckt5 Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 I ended up discovering the Xuron does a good job of this. Thanks for confirming it, Chuck.
