Model based on information in JaPo's "Luftwaffe over Czech Territory - 1945. II. Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10/U4 Production & Operational Service" (2004). Enhanced with EagleParts spinner (#20-32); BarracudaCast props (BR32122) and wheels (BR32074); and Quickboost control stick (QB32018) and exhausts (QB32010).
Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ralph.

Top darts Dan - on both the winged and the wheeled "sub-assemblies". Love the way the flat coat brings out all the underlying work. More armour-style weathering please!

Stencils had been sealed under X-22 so decided to repaint, but l lost internet access for a few days so missed Steve's advice regarding the triangle. "She stays" this time around.
Underside washes... these pics are getting all to common these days, so completely understand it they are of little interest.
General AK 303 Grey Wash for Kriegsmarine Ships pin wash...
A.MIG 1608 AMMO PLW Deep Brown in selected areas for a bit more grime in the rivets...
AK 012 Streaking Grime for Dark Yellow Vehicles for more grime behind the engine...

Steve: appreciate your feedback. That's where I'd usually expect to see the stencil located. The JaPo book suggests that there's a similarly-worded stencil as per the model. Couldn't work out what the stencil says, so took a punt. May have to repaint the engine cowl. The white-yellow-red triangle was another dubious choice - not come across it before - but it was closest to the one shown in the JaPo book.

Love it John. Cracking scale replica. Hat off! Cheers, Ralph.

Decided to try some HGW wet transfer stencils after the positive results on the Mk.XVI Spitfire. The HGW set (232009) is meant for the G-6, so the stencilling on this one is a mishmash of HWG wet transfers, kit decals, and left-over Eagle Cals decals.
Eagle Cals dotted line with HGW text...
HGW stencil - cut to allow easier placement.
HGW stencils - loosely based on the stencil type/layout in JaPo's G-10/U-4 book. Hard to say if they are the correct ones though as the JaPo drawings are difficult to read. Wondered whether some of the HGW stencils were a tad over-scale.

Congrats John - you've pulled of a real beauty. Great choice of scheme; great result with the dihedral; and great interpretation/execution. Cheers, Ralph.

Another hiccup... The "6" in the Montex mask set for the Revell boxing is accurate in size to the kit decal sheet, but a lot smaller than in Mr Crandall's artwork. The Revell decal instructions also call out the shorter vertical bar. Happily the horizontal bar mask meant for another kit option was close to Mr Crandall's artwork. No Hakenkreuz masks in the Montex set.

Well done dude. You've just increased the GB completion rate by 100%. "Go directly to the fridge and crack a chilled VB."

Camo on...
Topside camo: Light Grey = 2:3 XF-19 Sky Grey and XF-80 Royal Light Grey, post-shade with 50% XF-2 Flat White added; RLM81 Brown-violet = 4:1:1 XF-9 Hull Red, XF-64 Red Brown and Gunze H406 Chocolate Brown, post=shaded with XF-9; RLM82 Dark Green = XF-61 Dark Green post-shaded with XF-67 NATO Green; RLM83 Bright Green = XF-58 Olive Green; RLM84 (version 3) = 2:3 XF-2 and XF-76 Grey Green (IJN), post-shaded with 50% XF-2 added, and then with the light grey mix.
Underside colours: NMF = Floquil Old Silver with a few panels in XF-16 Flat Aluminium and X-11 Chrome Silver; RLM75 Grey Violet = 4:1 Gunze H69 RLM75 Grey and XF-50 Field Blue, post-shaded with 50% white added; ailerons = 3:1 XF-2 and XF-23 Light Blue, post-shaded with 50% white added.
Runny Humbrol Maskol stippled into the wing root for chipping effect.
The profile artwork in Mr Crandall's book shows a bright green on the gun deck which I couldn't see in the accompanying colour callouts. The RLM81 in the port wing root makes for something different.
Had some issues trying to remove the Montex mask adhesive from the NMF areas.

Tried AK Interactive's "Ultra Matte Varnish" for the first time. Pics really taken to look for shiny spots/ decal carrier film...
3:1 mix of varnish to AK thinner. Sprayed well. No tip clogging. Shows promise...
Beading wire for the coiled steel rope, and some leftover 48th scale Tamiya AFV kit string and ends for the tow cable.

Hat off Jeroen for your enthusiasm to play outside the Tamigawa sand pit! Solid results. Respect!

Eric: I bought a single length set from Hobby Boss but found it very frustrating to work with - so gave up. I hope the AFV Club set you have will be better - and even better than the AFV Club rubber bands. Cheers, Ralph.
