It's quite frustrating to get banned on Facebook, especially over something as seemingly harmless as Nats pictures. It's a stark reminder of the challenges that come with the divided nature of social media and online platforms.

Yes it sure is.  Especially when the offending picture was put up for informational purposes only.

It's just that funds have gotten that tight Ernie shoot I have not bought a new kit in 3/6 months(maybe longer) just ancillary stuff.:(

The reason for the kit addition and minimum posts were to stop the freeloaders showing up in November and leaving in January, never to be seen again until next November.  And then contributing an empty glue tube and used Qtips  as prizes.

Yup, it's been an enjoyable and rewarding journey for those of us on board and following your progress. Take it from a guy who spends a lot of bench time looking for parts and yes, somehow, they always seem to show up.

    Awesome work for sure🏆

Thanks, Peter!  It’s maddening, but expected.  We’ll deal with it, to the point of buying a sprue if needed.

  4. Well, it’s been a journey!  I have a bit of work to do underneath regarding grime and grunge, plus the formation lights, but I’m almost ready to call this one done.  Except for the bomb bay doors.  They’ve grown a pair of legs, but will show up.

Sorry for the dust, especially on the glass.  Trust me, it’s not overspray, just dust. Remember, these are just some quick snaps.  I’m overall quite happy with how she’s turning out.

I'm not an Oracle on all things Westland, but I have a depth of knowledge on it, and yes, it is all Westland built for sure. Lots of little details, that the discernible eye will see.

I will eventually get several. but not yet.

6 bladed tail rotor. Westland air filters, TWO types of main bladed, extended or folded main and tail option, Westland sponsons, two options on British search radars and fixtures, AND a civilian Heli Operations of Dorset option, circa 2022.  I’m simply blown away, and I’m NOT a 1/48 guy, although this model will be close to the size of that 1/35 Blackhawk.

Holy! I'm jealous as all getout! Both of those are high up on top of my wishlist!

The Westland Sea King appears to be all Westland, at least according to those more knowledgeable in the subject, and, joy of joys, it comes with a folded rotor option.  That alone makes it digestible to me.

That Gannett is huge as well, but doesn’t include the radar version. Also, the only markings are FAA markings.  No Australian, German, or Indonesian markings.  I expect the radar bird is coming, and other National options will be available soon through AM….

  7. Met Mike Swinburne this afternoon for Tex Mex, raided Ernie’s stash, then beers at a lovely brewery.  He then pulled two beautiful kits out of his sleeve:  the brand new Westland Sea King, and the still warm from the mold machine Fairey Gannett, both by Airfix and both in 1/48.  Pics to follow, but ooooh what nice stuff Airfix makes today.  If you’re an FAA fan, this year has been a VERY good year.

Sadly, with shipping to Canada it's more than  I paid for the Fisher Cutlass. Hopefully someone up here will have it for sale at some point.

Carl, if you want one, let me know. I can order one here and then post it to you privately.  Not an insurmountable problem.  Our British friends do this all the time for us uppity colonials.

  9. Loving this build.    I’ve always had an odd attraction to this anachronism.  In WW2, it looked like a relic from the Great War.  HUGE, slow, light firepower, and able to cross almost all barriers.  I’ve had Churchill kits several times, but building 2 thousand or more identical bodies would have sent me straight to my jug of special stuff to drown my frustration.
Like many, if one came out in 1/16, I’d be a taker.

Glad I live on Long Island - way too dangerous living in the Lone Star State.

But where we excel is in our world famous traffic, especially on the LIE and our bridges and tunnels heading into Manhattan .

Oh I know.  Ibe travelled up and down the LIE many times.  Insane. I’d come from Carteret, NJ to visit friends in Islip, and it was a real roll of the dice 20 years ago. Can’t even imagine today.

  11. Another pic. Gotta finish the props, weather them, add gear doors and the post gunsight. Then I’ll put her up, let her sit a month, come back, and giver her a once over for missing stuff.  Fix those, and we’re done.  I expect this’ll be at a local hobby shop come January.

Man, that looks really. Can't wait to see the finished pics.

I remember buying the old AMT one in 1/48 but never built it. Somehow I lost the kit. Never figured out what happened to it.

Lots of light reflections, but it looks really nice.  I like it
