ajcmac
I intend to build the new Hasegawa model of the A6M5 zero 1/32 and paint the Hinomaru. They have two colors. The usual red and green border.Someone can tell me what color I should use to paint the green border.Thanks.Regardsajcmac
Wumm
I'm not sure the green Hinomaru border overpaint was much darker than the standard upper camouflage colour, if at all... Possibly only the result of applying two coats in order to cover the underlying white. Deep Green-Black upper colour for late Zeroes was FS34052 for Mitsubishi-built airframes, and FS34077 for Nakajima (IIRC the new Hasegawa kit options are both Nakajimas.) As the Mitsu colour is slightly darker of the two, I would use this as the border colour, or simply add a few drops of gloss to 34077 to differentiate. ajcmac
Thanks Wumm. The curious thing is that Hasegawa in the presentation of the model shows the Hinomaru without the green border. Regards ajcmac
Wumm
Yes, as this is the aircraft in the photo that's what I would expect. After having a good look online over the weekend, I have been struggling to find wartime examples with noticable Hinomaru overpaints on A6M5's.
