Nice link Jeff. There's also this one which has lots of info on various Tigers and on kits too.
this is David Byrden's site
it's the only reference site I would trust if you are really interested in accuracy - he is the most knowledgeable man on Tigers around (literally no-one knows anything like as much as him)
no idea about that first one - it might have lots of pics which is always nice, but correctly identifying them etc is the trick
David can be found on Missing Lynx or Facebook if you need to ask him anything
the other site is Tiger im Focus: although a German site it is conducted in English but it is invite only

hello
not a fan of the Ed zimm but at least no compound curves for it to negotiate eg Panther kugelblende etc
anyway, you will be quite limited as to the tank you make because the turret zimm is i believe (please confirm) of the same 'narrow' gauge found on the hull
turret zimmerit was usually a wider gauge
the well known and well photographed 211 of Hans Weiss is in sSSPz 102, but has the larger turret zimm for instance
312 of sSSPz 505 has the narrow zim if you like the charging knights...

I would forget profiles and colour call outs from pretty much everyone - especially the likes of Montex - and go with what photos and known documentation tell you.
Half the stuff out there seems to be just made up, especially once you start doing your own research...

Hi to all from Prague:-) The kit is being built here as a fit-test build: https://ipmsnymburk.com/forum/viewtema.php?ID_tema=40445
Looks like some of those parts really don’t fit that well?
Crazy I know, but I actually think this would sell better in 1/32 than it would in 1/48 in a “if you’re going to do it, do it properly...” kind of way

I'd be interested in seeing how the whitewash over Dunkelgelb comes out. I'm so used to seeing it over the dark gray.
whitewash over 'Troppen 2' camouflage I believe no?
as to grey tigers, Mr Byrden now posits that there were in all likelihood only ever about 25 or so of those beasts.
strange how things we thought we knew, well...we didn't lol

Hey Barry
just seen this - nice!!
what did you use for the scoops on the fuselage?
what reference did you use for the scribing on the clipped wing tips - I have no idea what is required but you mentioned some scribing...
many thanks for sharing

beautifully done

nice
great looking model and the base really sets it off
what paints did you use?
the tracks - are they the kit ones? - look a little black / too uniformly dark, but maybe that's just the lighting
chipping looks just right to me and really brings everything 'together'

hi,
if the 109ace vac turrets are usuable, then wonderful, but if not, there may another option...
not sure if this has been mentioned already, but there is an aftermarket company which has indicated it is looking at making replacement turrets in clear resin
nothing confirmed or pics to show as yet, but it's someone I know and trust - once there is something to show you will see it
cheers

Thank you! I ordered a set of these engines myself.
can you point me to exactly what product this is and where you have ordered it from please?
never heard of Williams Brothers before

FYI E-7 has a fuel tank underneath, not a bomb (in which case it would be an E-4/B...)

quite a striking model!
perhaps a little too clean and shiny, but maybe that's a trick of the light?
thanks for sharing

Are you aware that HpH announced that they are working on the He177? It will take a few years ofcourse, but that one is definiteky going on my shortlist.
Really?
wow!
the He177 is one of the few planes I would consider stumping up the massive cash for an HpH kit.

The struts that come with the Lib are actually really, really strong. I am guessing it’s some kind of strong ABS plastic, which has a styrene shell you glue on. But I agree, it will be a test of strength, 3/4 of a pound of lead is hefty.
yes that is exactly what i noticed - the struts have a different 'look' about them - almost pearl-like / swirly when viewed close up; definitely different stuff to the rest of the kit parts.
if it is 'ABS', what sort of glue will work?

I have just heard through a reliable grapevine, turrets are on the way from Eduard Brassin! Yay!
wow!
that's a completely new line of business for them

Computer's been acting up lately, so I'll squeeze a couple of updates in here this evening.
LANDING GEAR
I decided to use a Brassin landing gear set. While building the wing, I tried adding small pots for the gear legs, but wasn't satisfied that I would get the correct angle. So instead I built out an alignment rig that would allow me to adjust the angle as needed once I could see how the plane sits. At this point, the gear is in and quite solid. The wheels are a little wobbly looking without the rig, so they will need some additional tweaking.
The carburator intake from the Hasagawa kit was also fitted and mounting brackets for the filter screen added.
landing gear looks awesome!
I tried to fit the Eduard gear on my new Revell Mk.II kit and it's a real fight, since the rake of the MkIX gear was different.
My gear ended up being to far splayed out and after seeing these pics i might just trash mine and start again (I have a few other Revell Spits in my stash and mine has not been a pleasurable build so doubt i will build another)
Anyway, really loving the progress on this venerable old kit!

wonderful!
a stunningly gorgeous build
my one gripe: the "100" decal with garland around it where it goes over a chord / pipe on the port side; surely it needs cutting / something to make it sit in the groove.
apart from that, simply awesome.

Bin it and build a ST with a proper kit
otherwise it will eat away at you and you will end up putting all the effort in and still be wound up!
