Huh?
2day build??
Amazing...
There's not a lot to it
-
Started this this morning and she is flying. A pretty basic kit, 1988 offering from Hasegawa and some 'gash' decals from the spares box.
I think I'll have her finished by tomorrow evening.
-
So today's progress, quite a lot done today the cockpit was cemented into one of the fuselage halves and the mating halve cemented together. I then added the Barracuda resin carburettor intake and corrected oil cooler. Both fitted very well.
Next up was to add the upper inner wing parts. As the plane I'm building has the narrower/smaller wheels it doesn't need the large upper wing wheel bulges supplied with the kit.For this I purchased the Ally Cat replacement, but as can be seen from a previous post it would be very hard if not impossible to make them fit. So my only other option was to 'steal' the inner wing parts from my G-6 kit.
Lower wings were fitted next, closely followed by the upper outer wing parts.
Some clamping and filling with Mr Dissolved Putty was required on the wing joins, but the fit is not too bad.

What do you folks think? These are some after-market parts for my 1:32 Revell Bf109G-10The small wheel bulge insert compared against the part for the G-6 boxing (kit part to the front) As you can see the resin part is way out and if sanded to shape there will be no leading edge just a hole! The wheels (kit part to the right) I actually prefer the kit part. The oil cooler is a bit improvement over the kit part (kit part to front)

Wow, she's a real beaut.

Good progress today, got the side-walls finished, IP finished and the cockpit assembled.
Port side-wall
Starboard side-wall
Instrument panel
Starboard side-wall in place with the cockpit assembly
Cockpit fully assembled
Next job was to remove the small scoop intakes from the nose on both sides of the fuselage
I then added replacement resin Barracuda scoops and exhaust stubs
Really pleased with the way this kit is going together.

Today I have been assembly the HGW seat harness, I love these fabric harnesses and I'm really happy the way this one worked out.
And Mr Postie arrived today with my pilot figure
-
Thank you all, she turned out pretty good, I know there is some errors on her but the next one will be better.
I'm indebted to James H (Jim) and his wonderful ADH book, next time I will try all the modifications he suggests.
Right on to the 109G-10

Revell 1:32 Spitfire Mk.IIa
(Backdated to Mk.Ia)
QV-K P9386 19 Sqn Pilot S/L Brian Lane and F/L Walter Lawson
Kit: Revell 1:32 Spitfire Mk.IIa
Decals: EagleCal EC#157
Paint: AK Interactive
Sundries: Mig AMMO Washes, Tamiya Weathering System, HGW Harness, Aires cockpit PE & Wheels, Barracuda Oil Cooler, Top Notch Camo Masks
WIP Thread: LINK
I'm really impressed with this kit, Revell have done us proud for the cost. Okay I have thrown a few extra at it that tripped the price but I'm really happy with the way she turned out. My first time using camo masks and I really must thank Sean who supplied me with the masks and quite a bit of help in using them. I really can recommend them, so much easier than Whitetac 'worms'.
The EagleCal decals were on the thick side and need a few coats of Mr Mark Softener to get them to pull down.
I hope it was worth the wait and thanks for looking.

Well, Luftwaffe-helperinnen would have washed HIS trousers for sure...
Probably needed to if he's just been bounced by a Spitfire
-
Well not lot to show you as I'm waiting on washes drying on the spit but I have ordered a pilot for her.
-
Little bit more done today whilst waiting on washes drying on the Spit
The cockpit is progressing.
And I've ordered a figure to go with the finished build

Did a little on the Gustav today whilst waiting on things on the Spit drying.
Cockpit floor painted and weathered, I also added some tape toe straps on the rudder pedals.
And 'debelted' the seat as I will be adding HGW cloth belts

After
More soon.

Wow, that is some build Ralph and thanks for breaking it down into all the stages, tons of great ideas. Thanks
-
Tempted to enter with the mossie, but need to think about it first.
-
I know the cowl and guns are wrong but this one is already over budget and I've wheels to get for it yet. So probably not.
-
This kit was given to me as a birthday present earlier in the year by my very good friends Lloyd, Mike, Ray, Dave, Ian and Sean
I will starting this build soon, just got a couple of bits to do on my Spitfire and I waiting for the paint to arrive for this one
It will be built as this aircraft:
and these aftermarket parts
I may have to add some wheels and tyres...

Some people may have applied some peer pressure for this one, but it's still a good choice.
Lovely scheme.
Peer pressure? What ever can you mean
-
Okay it's going to be Yellow 2 as in this one
Now do we know what wheel bulges this one would have had? I have both large and small just in case.
Will be starting this one as soon as the spitfire is finished.

Well this is as good as it gets.
Torn decals that wont settle, a couple that have silvered, one prop that was short shot, a canopy that I can't get to fit.
All in all this ones been a disaster. I won't be putting this one in the Completed section, might do a couple of touch ups on it and put it on the shelf as a filler.
