  1. ... Just check if the wheelbay piece sits snugly against the wing. Dryfitting is important to check the fit.

Are you working on one? Show it on this forum ...

    Hi Cees ...

Thanks for the tip. I aways dry fit several times when building to test fit accuracy before glueing (no matter the kit or medium). No I'm not working on it at the moment - I'm still awaiting delivery (probably a month off before it even gets here) ... but I don't post build threads/completed works in any case.

I was referring to another build thread (on another forum) where the individual had to sand the resin part a great deal and cut away part of the fuse to get it to fit correctly ... like I said, I'm awaiting mine with trepidation ... although it seems that your gear bay fit without a hitch?!? ... so I guess it's just wait and see!

    Regards,

    Rog :)

  2. Another vote for the Trumpeter Kits!!!

I don't know how, but for some inexplicable reason ... Trumpeter got this kit bang on!!!

Well - that may be a little unfair come to think of it ... most of their material is decent and well engineered (it fits together well) ... but accuracy wise a lot of their stuff can drive you to distraction - if you're picky.

Not so with their 262 series at all ... definately the best in 1/32 by miles!

    I bought a 262A-2a ... and then realised it wasn't the Quad-gun set up I wanted ... so I got the 262A-1a ...

Oh ... they DO like rubber tyres in their kits for some reason - so if those aren't your cuppa I suggest a resin set from somewhere (personally it's not a huge deal to me).

Eduard do a nice interior set also - if you're that way inclined ... otherwise the kit has everything you are likely to need

  3. ... but it looks there are few issues with it! ...

    Dave ...

A few would be an understatement according to those in the know ... the funny thing is ... I wouldn't have really noticed had they been not pointed out to me ... but once you set the original stamp up against Iains' re-worked bits - well ... Iains versions look faster just lying there!!! ... kinda like comparing a Messerschmitt Bf.109E to an F in shape variation - if you catch what I'm throwing?!

    Rog :)

  4. lol Iain ... you really don't do things by halves, do you? :D

Me ... I'd probably settle for OOB, or would have, if the glaringly obvious errors hadn't been pointed out to me.

The quicker a kit slaps together, the more enjoyment I get ...

I hadn't even heard of the He-219 when it was announced - I was hoping for my beloved Do-17z (<- Theres my plug again!! See, Revell!??)

I probably will still settle for OOB ... Zokei Mura OOB that is :D

You have a great gift Iain ... a good eye ... coupled with hand-eye co-ordination

I enjoy seeing your creative solutions!!

    Rog :)

  5. Yea if getting one from fisher you may as well get the landing gear too

Ahhhh ... excellent!! ... This is the sort of thing I like - suggestions (pre-build)!!!

Ok Dave ... whats this about the landing gear? ...

I have an MDC Typhoon with vac formed bubble canopies supplied and I thought that a plastic or resin one might be a better option.

I DID read a build thread somewhere, where the builder said that the landing gear supplied with the MDC kit left the aircraft sitting too low at the front end ... he added a couple of styrene blocks inside the baysto 'space' the landing gear, giving them the correct height.

So ... would THIS landing gear (from the sea fury) be applicable to both Typhoon and Tempest?

    Rog :)

  6. Sounds like its Christmas at your place the last few days!

I only got some Quickboost Revi Sights today...

Well actually it was my birthday on the 22nd of July ... so along with a recent pay increase due to working in a different department ... I decided to splurge on some stuff! ...

What has arrived from orders to date is only the tip of the iceberg ... once all the currently ordered gear is in (over the next month) ... I'll post a separate thread with pics :)

I can see Grant has gone fairly big with his FW-190 stuff ... and I'll be looking into his build with interest!!

  7. ... during a moment of madness, I bought Airfix's 1:24th FW190.  Some might say, "Hmm a challenge for you" but no, it was pure lunacy ...

... As the Fw 190 GB is a 6 month build I'll concentrate on the insanity induced Airfix Würger first ...

... Thanks for looking. (Someone, anyone ... please call the men with white coats and a straight-jacket  :D) ...

Grant ... you are certifiable!! :D lol ... Those that say 'a challenge' are really just being polite! While I applaude your diversity in the 'stash/WIP' purchases ... honestly, what were you thinking?!?! ... lol (JJ) ;)

I honestly think with a half decent skill set the 1/24 beast can be turned out into something beautiful (just not by someone like me!!)

You ARE only giving yourself six months to complete this ominous task though ... I doubt you're insane at the moment ... but in six months we may very well be calling for the white coats!!

Seriously ... have fun with it ... you may even inspire me to blow the dust off my 1/24 Spitfire Mk.1a & Bf.109E

    Kind regards

    Rog :)

  8. Hey guys ...

I know that it's been said aplenty here ... but this is one very, very excellent review ...

I just wanted to say that, although the subject is interesting enough, what was really a pleasant suprise to me - was the style you guys used.

The "two man team" approach is conversational, informative and entertaining! ... it's not "just another" review!!

Reminded me of sports commentary on the TV :D ... I found it was so enlightening - I posted a link to it in another forum!

I hope you do many more of these!!!!

  9. ... My info does state emphatically that the next kit will NOT be running a DB...

... so not 'Merlin powered' and not 'DB' ... mmmmmm?????

Well ... that would mean no Spit, Hurricane or Messerschmitt ...

If it IS Luftwaffe ... and no-one has said that it is! ... That would leave the FW-190 and Me-262 in mainstream

Unless they're the ones who take the punt by going twin engined ... and do my Dornier 17z *sigh!*

yes ... I know ... and pigs may one day evolve wings!

  10. I think the way Revell mould their kits we will see Mk V's a plenty. I'd like to see a Vc done properly, maybe some early Seafires?

What I'd really like is a proper Hurricane, preferably by Tamiya rather than Hobbyboss or Revell etc

Dunno if a Tamiya Hurricane will ever become a reality ... Try checking out the PCM one, though. I have one on order - but there are plenty of decent reviews on it

  11. i too am really looking forward to this

one more piece of the Battle of Britain jigsaw falls into place!

and of course if it is really good kit, I reckon you will see aftermarket conversions to MkV, which is where, from most people's perspective, all the juicy marking options are

personally i quite like the BoB ones, even though i can understand they are a bit plain for some

I'm in your camp with this one Nick! ... There is just SOMETHING about that classical, sleek, elegant shape of the Mk.I's and II's ... even with the crappy jamming armament upgrade 'a' variants ;)

Similarly - with 109 E's 1,3 or 4 of that era ... the later ones add plenty - but somehow lose that little 'something' as well ...

Now all we need is a freaking DORNIER (sorry - that rant just appears at every opportunity!) and a BPD ... not too much outstanding from the BoB otherwise I would think???
