Takom Mark VI but buy replacement tracks, I think the tracks I used were from Master…..they were not metal……..
The initial Takom MK IV tracks were awful multi-piece nightmares.
Later, they offered replacement one-piece snap together tracks that are
very good. In later boxings these are included. Their two-in-one MkIV Male/female kit has these, their Mk I kits, their Mk V kit, and their Tadpole Mk IV also have the snap tracks. I was lucky to find a couple of these track
sets that I can use on the earlier releases. The Takom Whippet also has good snap-together tracks.

Another set of tracks from Friulmodel.
This time; their Atl-63 Merkava MK 1/2. Apparently, these were meant
for the old Tamiya kit, but I'm hoping that I can use these on the Takom
Merkava Mk 1 kit. The link & length tracks in th Takom kit are fine, but because the way the upper hull is made in the kit requires that the builder
build-up, and paint the tracks and lower hull prior to joining the upper and lower hulls....
I don't want to do this. I figure I could easily thread the Friul tracks into
position after the kit is fully assembled. Well, we'll see about that.
Anyway, you can probably see I'm enthusiastic about the availability of
Friul tracks. I ordered a set of tracks for my remaining Tamiya T-55a kit.
These were always out of stock when I built my first example of that kit.

Saw this on The Modeling News website. Miniart's New M3 Stuart with
interior. Looks like a real gem of a kit!

getting bored with 1/32 aircraft, I fancy something different but have no idea about either the subject or the kit manufacturers so any recommendations would be very helpful.
thanks

Check out the A7v ww1 German tank by Meng. They offer two vesions.
As Fran said Copper State Models has a bunch of great armored car models from WWI.
Takom has a whippet, (Meng also), Mk1, Mk IV, and Mk V tanks, also the St. Chamond (early/late).
Takom has a 1/16 Renault ft in cannon and mg variants... Please
note that the ammo drums in the mg variant are for the wrong
gun! They are for a later machine gun, the Reibel,..don't install the racks. Hobby Boss has their own St. Chamond tanks as well
as Shneider CA tanks.
Meng also has 1/35 Ft models.

Today, got some Fruilmodel tracks. Ordered from Sprue Brothers, I was
glad to see these were available. I had been looking for these particular
tracks for some time. I had purchased the old Tamiya 113 kit a couple
of years ago as a nostalgia thing....this is one one of the first kits I ever made back about 1979. The kit dates to '74! I know that buying Friuls for
this kit doesn't make much economic sense really but I thought it would be fun.
Besides, I already bought a PE set for it a while back. The kits tracks are the
ancient Tamiya, rivet-the-end type and are....off-putting. The tracks come
with two replacement drive sprockets. Also, from another vendor, I just
ordered a set for my Takom Merkava 1.

Just to say that I noticed the availability of Friulmodel tracks
on a couple of websites I use; Burbank's, and Sprue Brothers.
I ordered a couple of sets. I guess they're back in business and have
dropped the " Only order from us" policy.

That's a sound I'm also familiar with as one flies out of Waukegan airport
and is featured at the local airshow. When at Mom's house ,near the airport, I'll step
outside to confirm....and right every time! That and the Texans (At-6).
One time I heard a plane I didn't recognize.....it was a Ford Tri-motor!

Nice work....built that kit in '84. Great to see it again!

I like the big kits....but don't think I'll go for this one as I have Das Werks normal big half track already. Instead I might buy the Gecko 1/16 Pak 40 and
have my Half track towing it! I'd like to see more 1/16 artillery stuff.
I have made some 1/35 artillery and the kits were really small. Yes, I agree
Large-scale more detail should be included....but considering, my experiences with most of the 1/16 kits I own the detail is pretty good.

There is no local supplier for Mr. Color paints near me. I order from Burbank's House of Hobbies; they almost always have the colors I need in stock, and they're usually delivered within four days.
I order from them a lot...a good business.

Some items from AFV Modeller came today.
Some aftermarket stuff to be used on my big Das Werk StuG III in 1/16.
These include ammunition stowage racks that are missing from the kit.
these would be visible if the hatch was open..so I think they're needed.
Also, I got a better shell-catcher basket to replace the kits flat-sided one.
I did borrow pictures from their website

That's a kit I've wanted to build... a big He111. But could never find one.
Anyway, I'll watch your build with intrest. I always thought that was a handsome aircraft. Those replacement brass landing gear
look very nice.

Just arrived....Got it from Burbank's house of Hobbies.
From Tamiya it's their Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero Fighter Model 21 (Zeke)
In 1/32 (60317). I've been wanting this kit for some time. It looks nice...
I has lots of detail and many features (gimicks?) Like working flight controls, functional landing gear that fold and are sprung, photo-etch, and
etc. I've been looking at the instructions that I downloaded from Scalemates for some time...it looks like a straightforward build.
Going back to my roots here....I built a collection of Japanese aircraft in the
80s. They were mostly 1/48 offerings from Tamiya, Otaki, Hasegawa, and Nichimo.

Paul, great to hear your mom is doing well. You're not the only one going through this so it's completely understandable.
I take my Dad grocery shopping weekly since he can't drive any more. Sue does the same for her folks when they ask. It's the least we can do to make things easier for them.
We're just happy that we can help them out and I'm sure it's same for you.
Thanks, her recovery will take a long time but we're getting her the best help
we can..we've got physical therapy all set up and in addition to my help
we also arranged to have a nurse or aid to visit a couple times a week.
What was great was the ability of myself and my siblings to join forces to
organize and manage her care. As in your case , I feel its our duty
to take care of parents the best we can.

The Triplane is the Eduard kit in 1/48th scale. The figures of the brothers were sculpted by me many years ago for The Model Cellar. https://modelcellar.com The figures were among the very first I painted with acrylic paints. Still learning there!
The dog "Moritz" came with the special edition Eduard kit "Der Rote Flieger" which also included he markings for Manfred's 425/18. The kit is mostly out of box with some detailing and additions. I rigged it with stainless steel wire which works pretty well (but I hate the bright finish which cannot easily be eliminated). I would prefer to us ceramic "magic rigging wire" but do not have a current source for it. Can anybody help?
The final shot shows the prop "in process" using the Tom Morgan method: the darker layers were hand painted in a combo of oils and Humbrol painted over an acrylic base coat. This allows for "infinite corrections" to the edges of the color until a satisfactory edge has been achieved. This was then followed by a "woodgrain" application of oils over all and finally a couple of brushed coats of "future" floor polish for a gloss finish.
I hope you like it!
Cheers!!
The plane and Figures are masterfully done. It's hard to believe they're in
48th scale the detail painting on the figures are so good!

Whats on my bench? A big Sherman that now, due to circumstances, must
be put on hold. A little more than a week ago, My mother fell on some stairs. The result was a fractured wrist and upper humerus. We put her
in a local rehab facility, but we were not pleased with the standard of care.
My sister and I have been caring for her at home. My sister is leaving
at the end of the week, so I will be caring for her while living at her home.
So, I will be away from my bench for a long time. My sister has been amazing..... She's like a force of nature: organizing everything so far
excellently. I have some hospital experience with patients I think I'll do fine.
I have already been bringing her to the doctors appointments and everything
for a couple of years. I don't mind...it's my duty to do so. Anyway, I will
still post things if I can; purchases, comments etc. I enjoy seeing
other members builds even if I'm not building...The talent, civility,
and generous spirit of this forum is amazing.
Thanks;
Paul
P.S. My mother is doing very well and is in good spirits.

IT’S AIR BRUSH TIME
While waiting for mask set to arrive, I tackled the cowl and cowl flaps which I thought would be a snap … oh, little did I know.
Trying to fit the nose cowling assembly onto the fuselage was a bit of a struggle, just too tight. Appears to have been a case of too many parts needing to fit together precisely and that wasn’t in the cards for me.
The upper fuselage radio mast I was so careful not to break off during most of the build, I managed to finally break it off and was not reusable. A new antenna was fabricated, test fitted but will not be added until the end of the build – I just know if I add it now, it’s a sure fired bet I’ll break it off again.
Finally, with the Eduard mask set in hand, the canopy glass was masked and glued into place. The front windshield required a lot of tweaking to get close but for sure, no cigar.
One last polishing, wipe down, initial masking and the Jug was ready for priming. I used the kit’s ‘In Flight” main gear doors to mask off the gear bays and they were a bit big, needing some slight trimming.
The correct underside color has turned into a minefield, as to what color the 78FS undersides actually were. One thing for sure, it was not RAF Sky. My main source for online research kept referring to both Dana Bell and Roger Freedman’s research, who both initially referred to the underside color as Sky and later on calling referred to it as light gray. I decided the color was a medium gray and my final choice was MRP Light Ghost Gray – close enough for me, as Neutral Gray seemed a bit too dark. Does all this really matter – nope, not at all, just a bit of Sherlock Holmes fun.
The freehand cammo went on without a hitch and after 24 hours to dry, it was time for a good two days of masking for the invasion stripes, which were then accomplished in two stages. What a pain and a test of nerves.
The engine cowling was masked off as the Tamiya Lacquer Gloss White would serve as a nice base for the checkerboard nose decals, the white stripes on all the tail surfaces were also air brushed. In the end, way too much unforeseen masking; but it’s done.
The painting guide showed the gear doors invasion stripes were not painted showing the stripes as straight lines across the undersides of the wings matching that of the wing's invasion stripes but rather the pattern is length wise across the doors. I’ve seen this a few times before in photos and always wondered why the ground crew painted them this way unless it was faster and easier – who knows.
Still a good deal of detail painting to do but I'm making progress, slowly, oh so slowly.
That's looking great, Peter!

More today from AFV modeller.
For my DasWerk StuG. In 1/16, some aftermarket resin.
StuG.III Radio Racks (16067) andTwo of their StuG III stowed Mp 40
(16053). The kits' radio stuff looks fine but the AFV racks have more detail
and include the various electrical boxes that are missing in the kit.
Also, the Mp 40 include their mounting brackets. These are missing from
the kit.
