Well guys, this is the last 1:32 model I currently have in my collection: the WnW Gotha. It was my first ever biplane in this scale, and it was my first ever WnW model so this is a bit special for me. I build it some two years ago and remember that I was so impressed with all that detail. I wanted to do this version of the plane and weather the whites lightly and the engines more heavily… they have this beautiful industrial look. Of course, two years later I would do a lot of things differently but I'm still glad with how she turned out. Hope you like the pics, all comments welcome as usual. Happy modeling, Jeroen

Thank you guys! This model will probably be published in TMMI and here's some information from the article about how I painted the model:
'I used Xtracolor Metal, Duraluminium and Gun Metal for the wings and fuselage. Flaps and ailerons were painted with Xtracolor German Metal, which is very bright. I sprayed these straight on the plastic, and after drying I masked off the antiglare panel on the nose. That was painted with Xtracolor Olive Drab and highlighted with Faded Olive Drab. Next was the red nose. I’m not a big fan of decals in this scale and decided to use masks instead. Mal Mayfield from Miracle Masks cut me a set for the stars and bars, ‘Blondie’ nose art, codes and numbers. Of course, the masking process takes some time but the results are well worth it, because all the rivet detail remains visible. I then gave the whole plane a treat with Promodeller Sludge Wash. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the end result. The metal colors darkened slightly and I was contemplating how to solve this. I decided to use the Xtracolor German Metal and dab it on the spine of the airframe and wingroots with a piece of sponge to lighten them up. The effect was very pleasing: not only did the color become lighter but the walkway decal became nicely weathered and it gave certain panels a somewhat muffled look. I felt happy with the rescue attempt and decided to again seal it with some Gloss Varnish.'
Dave, yes, I have a lot of WIP pictures but because of the publication I'm a bit hesitant to show them here before Marcus used it for TMMI. If you want I can mail some of it, but in that case please give me your mailadress.

I have to admit that I'm running out of 1:32 scale posts, but I have two to go. I will start building the WnW Hisso in a couple of weeks and I hope to do a full WIP on these forums. The WnW Gotha might be interesting to post as well, but for now I will show you some pics of the P-51. Everything that has been said about the kit is true: it's a marvel of engineering and crammed with detail. I added Roy Sutherlands cockpit goodies and Mal Mayfield was kind enough to cut me some masks for 'Blondie'. Blondie, stars and bars and codes are all painted on. Smaller codes and markings were done with kit decals. Promodeller sludge washes were used as well as oil paints in selected areas. I swear I will never even start smoothing out the wings. I used Mr Surface for that but it was a lot (a lot!) of work. This is how she turned out. I hope you enjoy the pics, all comments welcome as usual. Happy modeling, Jeroen

Beautiful! It's almost a shame that a lot of your hard work will be hardly visible when the fuselage is closed, but it must be so rewarding to know it's all there. Very very impressed with this, keep up the good work! Cheers, Jeroen

I'm not much of a jet-guy either paul! But that build really makes me reconsider. For the moment I'm in a WnW flow… but it seems the tide is changing. Your fault entirely ;-)!

Thanks gentlemen, for all the kind words. Yes, the red bar is incorrect and although I intended to change it, now really is the moment to do so. The result has more to do with the excellent plastic Tamiya provides than with my modeling skills, but I'm happy with the way she came out. Thanks again for all your kind and motivating remarks!

This is my Tamiya 1:32 Spitty Mk IX, build about a year and a half ago. I was mightily impressed with all the detail but I wanted to add a bit extra, so I devoted quite some time to wiring up the engine. She is painted entirely with Xtracolor paints, and the codes and other insigna's have been done with Mal Mayfields Miracle Masks. Smaller stenciling was done with the kit decals. Wshes were donde with Promodeller Sludge, which was a first for me … but which I liked very much. The red centre dot is almost orange in the pics, which is caused by my clumsiness with the camera… it is red :-). This is how she turned out…. hope you enjoy the pics, all comments welcome as usual. Beautiful work! That P-51 is just gorgeous. I have fallen in love with that scheme since I first saw the 1:72 Airfix kit. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys… it was the holiday season so I had some spare time. It might seem like little time, but it wasn't. I remember you telling me that you saw it Jeroen, just can't remember if it was in Germany or Belgium? Not many pics of the interior James, but here are some. No etchings, no decals, it was all kinda bare because of the test run, but with bit of improvisation and careful painting it didn't look to bad...

This is a build from about two years ago. Wingscale asked me to build their B25 from a test run, which meant the kit was missing some details but there was enough in the box to come close. I had only six weeks to build this, because they wanted to present the model at the fair in Germany. It was a marvel of a kit. There were no decals so I asked Mal Mayfield from Miracle Masks to cut me the masks for Finito Benito. We all know that Wingscale never materialized and that the kit now is marketed by HK Models. And a good thing it is, because something really beautiful can be created straight from the box and with all the detail sets available these days. It would have been a shame if those moulds would have been left unused. This is how my six week journey turned out. I hope you enjoy the pics, all comments welcome as usual. Happy modeling, Jeroen.

Grant, thanks so much for the kind words! I had a great time building this. I have to make a write-up for Tamiya Magazine and when that is done I will start on my next WnW kit. Not sure which one yet, but there's enough time to decide!

Thanks Martin! The pictures are gentle and hide many of the flaws ;-). Thank you for the warm welcome here on the forum. A great place with kind fellow modellers, and it's a privilege to be part of this group. I'm going to take a small brake for the next week or so, and then I might start another project. The Tate will probably be the one for the group build/competition starting in July, so its either the Hisso or the Albatros. That Hisso is so tempting...

Like it is a bit of an understatement! That is a stunner. Some two years ago I built this kit. It was a test run for Wingscale and although some of the parts were missing it was a really nice kit. Never thought to see it marketed, and yours really makes me want to give it another go. Absolutely brilliant!

I was asked to post some pictures of the Gotha build, so here they are. This is a kit I build some two years ago so I won't write captions with each photo but let the pics do the talking. I think they show some of the techniques I used. If there are any questions I will answer them of course. I hope this provides some ideas and inspiration.
