PAnderson Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Here is an interesting little video. Apparently, this DH.9 was found in India, rotting away. It is now restored and almost ready to fly again. http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2013-09-02/first-world-war-aircraft-found-in-elephant-shed/ Enjoy, Paul 2
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted September 3, 2013 Administrators Posted September 3, 2013 Eeehhh..... Wow! I knew of the two gifted DH9's to India and the restoration project, but this movie is just great. Thnx for the heads up! Cheers, Jeroen
BradG Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 This use to be the norm back 40 years ago. Good hunting grounds were farmers paddocks as many aircraft were bought post war for their engines and tires which were hard to come by in the immediate post war world. A Beaufighter and Kittyhawk were found in a paddock here. Infact the Mk 1 Beaufighter in the USAF Museum was that paddock queen.
One-Oh-Four Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 BTW; it's better than finding an elephant rotting away in a DH.9 shed..... :/ Nice vid!
