ScottsGT
Next step on the Trumpeter HIMTT is weathering the tires and getting them on the model. I’ve been watching you tube and almost everyone is using acrylics. Although some did use Tamiya rattle can primers first. Any tips for using Mr. Color lacquers on rubber kit tires? CANicoll
Hey Scott. I've always used acrylics on the rubber tires, preferring the 'Rubber Black' esp Vallejo, WHEN I use the Rubber tires. Lately, preferring resin when I can find them. Some of the old rubber tires I've painted have the paint chipping off as they rubber settles with the weight of the plane (in my cases). Hope you have better luck with yours!
BlrwestSiR
I've heard of using diluted white or PVA glue as a primer. Put a thin coat on and when dry, paint with acrylics. There's an aqueous Mr Surfacer now. Maybe that would work?
dodgem37
I prime, then paint, then gloss, then weather rubber tires. Nowadays I mostly build 1/24, 1/25 soft skin and armor. Lots of rubber tires in that lot. I prime with grey (Model Master), paint with Lacquer Acrylic (AK Interactive), gloss coat (Acrylic Floor Polish [Quick Shine]), then weather (oils). Nary a problem. Sincerely, Mark 1
