Biggs Posted Sunday at 08:23 PM Posted Sunday at 08:23 PM I want to build a 1/32nd model of Neel Kearby's P-47. Only decal set I have found cost $42, which I find absurd. Anyone know of a 1/32 scale set that's cheaper? I'm on medical leave for 3 months. Getting back into building models after a 20+ year break. Have ordered a few 1/32 scale models, decal sets and cockpit detail sets. So far I got a Gloster Gladiator+ cockpit detail set, OS2U Kingfisher and catapult,+ cockpit detail set, a Israeli Mirage IIIc with decals+ detail set. And lastly a BF-109F, Hans Jochim Marseilles Yellow 14, with decals + cockpit detail set. Its damned expensive being on medical leave..........🤣 Jim 1
ScottsGT Posted Sunday at 10:08 PM Posted Sunday at 10:08 PM Jim, Welcome to the forum! Looks like from my searching that Peddinghaus decals are your only choice. I’ve never used their sets because the one set that did interest me was over $100. I did do some forum searches on them and decided it just wasn’t worth the risk. I’ll let you decide after reading some reviews. Looking at the airplane, 95% looks like generic markings. The colors on the tail tip can be painted on, and you might be able to find a custom decal printer to make the nose art? Of course that would run about the same price as well. 3

Looks like I was correct that that was my only option. I will wait a bit and build the others first. Then offer him less than he wants and see if he bites. 1
HubertB Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Beware that Peddinghaus’ decals accuracy is sometimes … dubious. For instance, I was at a time interested in their sheet for « YIPEE » the famous 5000th P-38. Then I saw the decal sheet, compared to the pic of the real one … and decided to pass, with no regrets. The « Yipee » name, so prominent, was not even close to the original on the decal sheet, using some VERY distant, standard, font … Hubert
