sandbagger Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Hi all, I'm waiting for rigging materials for the Pfalz D.VIII I'm building. So I thought I'd start researching the next model. This will be the 'Wingnut Wings' Rumpler C.IV (early), Serial No.8518/16 of Flieger-Abteilung (FA) 209 during 1917. (FA) 209 was an observation and reconnaissance unit and operated on the Western Front, including Verdun. During the early part of the war, Feldflieger Abteilungen (Field Flier Detachments), the initial observation units, typically had six two-seat aircraft, either monoplanes or biplanes. Mike 4
sandbagger Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 Hi all, I've been waiting for turnbuckles to arrived so I can finish the Pfalz D.VIII model. Finally, after being held bu UPS customs, they have now been delivered. In the meantime I've been working on the Rumpler cockpit. I've added a few things, rudder bar foot straps, rudder, aileron and elevator control lines and switch levers to the pilots instrument panel. It's all yet to be weathered before I close up the fuselage. So it's back onto the Pfalz model now, Mike 7
sandbagger Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Hi all, The fuselage is ready to be closed up. I've added ignition leads and plugs to the engine. In addition the two pipes fitted to the air pump at the front of the engine. The fitted engine driven generator has a drive belt fitted, made from EZ heavy black line. Mike 3
