FME erk Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I started this around 2018 but thinking back I put it to one side as it was around the time my mother took ill and sadly pass-away. However, I 'found it' in its box and decided to take a look and catch up where I had left off . . . . . I had filled the windows to eliminate them as I had decided that it was going to be a late production aircraft . . . Recently I moved the wireless operators window rearward nearer to its correct position. There are also two escape hatches on the top of the fuselage with the rearmost being small so this too was altered a few days back . . . The kit bomb-bay comes with four pegs line abreast in place and as this configuration is wrong so again, recently I removed the pegs and tried a small amount of re-instating of the detail; the aircraft will have its bombs in place . . . PLUS the kits 4000Ib is under scale so I am scratching a new one to the correct dimensions Finally, I know the engines are a poor fit so I have made the first inroad to getting these to sit better before the next installment . .. More to come as time goes by . . . Ian 6
Spitfire Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Glad that you are resurecting this, it would be a shame to waste it, from other builds it would seem to still build up to an impressive model. Cheers Dennis 2
FME erk Posted Monday at 12:23 PM Author Posted Monday at 12:23 PM Yes Dennis its a decent kit although there are a few things amiss with it. If one is prepared to make a number of alterations then it can become impressive. Wrongly or rightly HK have introduced a scale down version of their 32nd Lancaster into a 48th which I believe is far superior to the Tamiya 1974 release . . . ( I have two of their Lancaster kits in 48th) . . . I shall be pleased to display this example when finished in my coffee table along with the other Tamiya I finished some years back . . 3
FME erk Posted Tuesday at 08:08 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:08 PM Trying to build up the engine nacelle fittings to minimise the amount of filler that shall be required . . . 4
