guitarlute101 Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Hi Richard. My decals arrived this morning in the mail in perfect shape. Many thanks and I'm very excited to start! Mark 2
guitarlute101 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 I will be starting soon. There was a little damage to the trailing edge of the bottom part of the top wing. I contacted WnW and they are sending a replacement part. WnW has excellent customer service! Mark 1
Alexandr Uhlik Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Hi Mark, I had the same problem at the same location in my kit. Just the damage was not so bad as yours so I was able to repair it myself. Seems there is a systematic problem... Rgds Alexandr
guitarlute101 Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 It looks like it was dropped against the sprue ejectors when it was taken out of the mold, they seem to be in the same place. Mark
guitarlute101 Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Everything is in to start the build. Thanks to Dave Johnson at Wingnut Wings for the quick wing replacement and to Richard Andrews for the awesome Aviattic lozenge. I even picked up the new resin valves with lifters for the BMW engine from Nordland Models (thanks Denisa!!) A little more research and I'll begin the build. Mark 3
guitarlute101 Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Hi everyone, I picked up the HGW detail set for the build....... And I think I'm going to try to push my abilities a little with this one. I've always wanted to do a "half and half" like this............... So I bought some extra wing sprues and I cut the top wing along the ribs to get the correct profile for each rib and numbered each rib ("T" for top)................ I'll be making the ribs over the next few days................. If I can get the wings made to my satisfaction then I'll continue as planned but if not I will do a standard build. Hopefully all goes well. Mark 4
Steven Robson Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Hi Mark Hmmm, Eric Just's Fokker D.VII is a beautiful scheme to model. I reckon it's really exciting to see that wing cut into cross-sections for the ribs. I'd love to see a half and half build. Happy Landings Steven 1
JonathanReed Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Awesome! Hope it works out! Would love to see the step by step on the half and half. 2

guitarlute101 Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 I just picked up the Kagero book on the D.VII for the crazy price of $23 on ebay. This will help A LOT. more research and planning for me, Mark 2
Steven Robson Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Hey Mark You got a bargain price on the Kagero book. It's an excellent reference for your D.VII project.
guitarlute101 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Hey Mark You got a bargain price on the Kagero book. It's an excellent reference for your D.VII project. guitarlute101 Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Hi everyone, There is still too much research and planning to do before the end of the GB to do a half and half version, so I will do a straight build and save the half and half for later this year once I have everything I need. I really don't want to do a rush job on it. Now the question is can I build a Wingnut Wings D.VII in just a little over 2 weeks. Challenge accepted. Thanks, Mark 2
Administrators Fran Posted February 6, 2015 Administrators Posted February 6, 2015 Mark please do!!!! And put all pics that I want to see that express build!
One-Oh-Four Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Very interested to see the continuation of your build!
