Looking great, John! I have a SH P-39Q in the stash to build one day. I'm assuming that the fuselage length is an issue with all the SH P-39s? Dave

Sorry John, I guess I'm reserved.

It looks very nice, Peter.

I thought it was interesting how he painted the decking. Also, the masks for the decking while painting everything else. Once he got to creating the water, I recognized that I had seen a different video by the same person. It's all interesting watching other folk's techniques. Always something to learn.

Thanks, Kevin, I'll check it out.

Well, any and all suggestions are welcome. I guess I'll see how long it goes before this is bent. I also note the bit of fuzz I've got to remove. Deck gun for USS Pharris. I've been studying the PE for the USS Pharris. It's definitely an evenings only project. When all the caffeine from the morning's coffee has worn off.

I have a friend who is a retired Navy Chief. For a number of years, he served on board USS Nimitz. He's retired from the Navy and retired from a civilian career too. So I bought a Trumpeter 1/700 USS Nimitz, 1975. I was going to make a diorama with ocean, etc. While thinking about the project I thought I should add one of the escorts. He also at one time earlier in his career served on board USS Pharris. He's never mentioned the USS Pharris escorting the USS Nimitz, but I figured modeler's license, so the escort is going to be the USS Pharris. He's talked about one particular cruise and I found information online that lists the airwing complement, squadrons, aircraft numbers, aircraft types. So: As you can see, I'm going to try to drive myself insane with all the PE too.๐คช I've started the base, it's 15" x 42". I need to get some trim to add along the sided and stain. I'll be using modeler's license for the distance between ships too. I'll see how fast it progresses. At least I still get to model aircraft too. ๐

Back at the Corsair and making headway. The stencil decals do add to the look.

Looking good! From your first post about getting tired of seeing Corsair, "you can't have too many Corsairs!"
-
I'm slowly making headway. Still working on the Barracudacals Cockpit stencil decals, right-side console to go yet. I did have wires attached to the wireway. In bending the first wire into place and placing the end at the cylinder head I managed to break it loose. While trying to place it, I broke two more loose. ๐ Soooo, I removed them all. ๐ก I'm sure I can work out the wires to the front side of the front cylinders, but I haven't worked out how I'm going to place the other wires. I'm sure the wire I was using is too stiff for the purpose, so now to contemplate how I'm going to accomplish the task. Onward, lots to do!

Yes, they are small. ๐คช (magnifier and headlight) I"ve noted comments elsewhere and on the instructions that particular pieces might be better cut apart, too. I've been doing one piece at a time and making sure it's attached before the next piece so I don't mess it up.

John, looking great! While working on mine this afternoon, the thought crossed my mind, since you've built so many, do you catch yourself going by memory and missing a step? ๐ I'll update mine soon, I'm working through those Barracudacals Cockpit stencils.

Finally started.

Well, I guess it's time to really get started. ๐ These decals and some Tamiya paint came today. And the wheels were in the drawer. I'll see if I can drive myself crazy with the decals.๐คช

๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฟ I'll be watching too. I just received some items today for my corsair. -
It's looking really nice, Peter!

After visiting with my brother on our recent trip, I got the idea to build this and give it to him. He likes the corsair. I thought I'd build it pretty much OOB. I might pick up some resin wheels. Probably one of the paint schemes in the kit, but I may make masks to paint the markings. See if I get it done in time for NATS, since we're going that way.

U. S. Navy Bf-108
denders replied to denders's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Thanks guys! It was a fun build. Iโll post if anything else pops up. I originally started out hunting information about the other Bf-108 that the US owned but there arenโt any known photos. In the process I was told about this one and given information and a photo of this one. So I built it. -

Of note, we had dinner last evening with friends from NC, they're being tourists in Nashville. She has historically been referred to as my wife's twin sister. They're not sisters but discovered in their first math class in college that they have the same birthday and were born minutes apart. She grew up in Hagerstown, MD. Not far from I81 and the western end of the main runway. Her father worked for Fairchild, unfortunately he started working there in the early '50s and double unfortunate that he's passed. We were talking and I eventually showed them a photo of this model. She became very intrigued and immediately started texting with one of her brothers who I guess knows some of the Fairchild old timers. I guess I'll see if any more information comes to light about this aircraft. -
It's been finished for a couple of weeks, but we were away, so I finally took better photos.

That looks nice! -
Thanks, guys! No, no curtains, it leaves more room to look inside. ๐

Okay, all those little bits are in place. The nav lights are really tiny ๐คช. We have commitments the next two weeks, I'll put together some better photos then. Thanks for looking. And, thanks Peter.

It's getting closer. It just needs the landing light, nav lights, radio antenna, and hand holds.
