  1. A couple of years ago I picked up a Dragon Bf-110D/E kit and a Revell Bf-110C-0/C-7 kit. The goal is a G4 (I have the AIMS conversion), but I wanted to build a 110 of more generic assembly before attempting the G4. So, this was it. I decided on Falck's aircraft and had intended on painting all the markings except the squadron and personal markings. In the end I just used the EagleCals decals for everything. I used various Eduard PE, Aber and Master gun barrels, and the Quickboost exhaust set. The paint is mostly MRP with the use of AK Markers for some small items and touchup. The build log is here:
  2. Thanks Rob! I'll certainly have a look through your thread and save it for reference.
  3. Now that the Bf110 is declared done, time to start something new. I've been wanting to get the 110 done so I can start on this one. When It's finished, it will be a gift for a niece. The kit. The AM that I purchased. I ended up with two of the oil cooler/radiators when the aircraft only has one. I'm not sure whether I'll use the decals or masks for the markings. I haven't decided on which markings yet. Two books that I purchased as well as others on my kindle app too. And two more on the way. And Paint. I couldn't find specific paint in my favorite paint (MRP) but found these from Hataka. And these were ordered directly from Hataka because I couldn't find a source here, until after I ordered these. I've never used Hataka paints before. It looks like it should be a fun project.
  4. Looks like a good choice to me.
  5. Okay, I'm declaring this one done. Hopefully I'll get some RFI photos this week. Now to figure how I'm going to pack this to take along to NATS. Should be fun.
  6. I understand that. A magnifier is necessary, and steadier hands would be nice. I have some PE deck handling equipment that are all PE. I guess I'll see how they turn out, whether they actually make it onto the model.
  7. Looks good, John! I've always liked the looks of the Firefly. I wish there was a 1/32 kit.
  8. Okay, a bit more progress. I've been working on the little bits.
  9. This doesn't get worked on very often. I've been building aircraft because I want to put some in the hangar deck. Two of the doors will be open. And even though I'm not putting lights in there, I want folks to see something. I started with the EKA-3s because I'm only using two of them. They should be on the flight deck. Remember, they're 1/700.
  10. I’ll be there.
  11. Watching. Jealously watching.
  12. I was at the IPMS show in Chattanooga this past weekend and picked these items up in the vendor area.
  13. Okay, well, I was there. The show was originally scheduled in early January, but a snowstorm caused the rescheduling. The show does the Gold, Silver, Bronze thing and there are just large groupings. e.g. All aircraft are in the same class regardless of scale. There were 99 folks who entered 404 models. This model was named Best Aircraft. I had seen it at 2023 NATS in San Marcos, TX. He started from this. He also had a photo book showing his progress. This was Best Diorama and Best of Show or Best pick by the judges, I don't recall and maybe it was the same thing. There were only 5 models that I would consider Large Scale Planes. The two above and these below. There were quite a few 1/35 armor models as well as all the other genres too. These are some others that I took photos of. Sorry guys, I guess I'm just not an armor type. I actually won a Russian Bt-2 tank model and after talking to someone who won some Russian figures and said he guessed he would have to get a tank kit to use them with, I donated the Bt-2 to him. It was a nice time. I did receive a silver pin for my Ki-100. And if anyone was there, I was the guy with the Hawaiian shirt with the Flying Tigers P-40 scheme.
  14. Landing gear is on. There is a number of PE pieces to be added. It was easier being able to tilt the model.
  15. I have to agree. Glad to hear things are on the upward. Anyone heard from Peter?
  16. I'm still working at this. Working on the various little bits and weathering.
  17. I have the set of markers from AK and find it better to use white under yellow and red.
  18. Decals are on. On to weathering.
  19. I decided to use the decals. The green A is two layers.
  20. Some of my birthday (last month) present arrived today. Funny thing, I just sent an email this morning about when it was going to be shipped.
  21. Well, after the storms and then being away, I've finally put a coat of RLM66 on it. I've also decided that it will be Falck's Plane #3 with the Green Letter A. I have the EagleCal's decal set which I purchased to have the squadron marking and Falck's Ladybug marking. Soooooooooo, now the choice of painting the markings or using all decals. Hmmmm.
  22. For those who might not have seen, the tours were announced and can be registered for. The Monitor or the Wisconsin or the Military Air Museum as I mentioned above.
  23. I've got my hotel and convention reservations all made. So, the wife and I will be there. 2026 is supposed to be in Fort Wayne, IN. If you're going and have extra time, the Military Aviation Museum, Pungo, VA is a great place to visit. It's not on the convention tours. I was there ~3 years ago. Several of the docents were retired Naval Aviation folks. Impressed the heck out of my retired Navy Chief friend.
  24. First it received a coat of MRP Primer Grey, then this....... Then this........ I've never done this sort of painting. I'm thinking about starting with RLM66 and then adding some Nato Black. Onward!
