  1. I've been distracted by some other things. Just about to attach all the other bits. I scanned the canopy masks and I'm going to cut another set for use on the inside.
  2. Working on the landing gear, just amazing!
  3. No, I won't. I didn't make the plug connections on the back side of the cylinders, that will be rather obvious with wire ends just sticking out. I've gotten to thinking that I'm going to leave it rather clean and at least a semi-gloss finish. While it doesn't have modern cockpit instrumentation, it's just someone's warbird waiting for fun time in the air.
  4. Oh yeah, those stencils, hmmm. I'll have to have another look at them. Thanks for the reminder. I want to have it done by ~7/15 so I have time to work out packaging, so I can take it along in the car to NATS. I haven't decided whether I'll show it or not. (Never done that.) I want to deliver it to my brother on the way back home.
  5. Peter, I'm not sure if I'll use the decals or mask it and paint the markings. Certain markings will definitely be easier to paint. Then there are all the stencils that definitely are too small to paint.
  6. It looks mighty fine!
  7. You don't often see Mustangs with multicolor camo either. The top camo'd version looks like it's probably Bolivian, what's the other one?
  8. Thanks Kevin. Yep. The aircraft with the yellow nose. Overlooked the P&W logo and added a data plate.
  9. Keeping on moving. Now to paint some more parts.
  10. Ready to close up the fuselage. I like the results of the Barracuda cockpit stencils despite the work. Perhaps a Quinta cockpit for the next one. It worked out well in the Trumpeter F4U-4 I finished recently.
  11. Looking great, John! I have a SH P-39Q in the stash to build one day. I'm assuming that the fuselage length is an issue with all the SH P-39s? Dave
  12. Sorry John, I guess I'm reserved.
  13. It looks very nice, Peter.
  14. I thought it was interesting how he painted the decking. Also, the masks for the decking while painting everything else. Once he got to creating the water, I recognized that I had seen a different video by the same person. It's all interesting watching other folk's techniques. Always something to learn.
  15. Thanks, Kevin, I'll check it out.
  16. Well, any and all suggestions are welcome. I guess I'll see how long it goes before this is bent. I also note the bit of fuzz I've got to remove. Deck gun for USS Pharris. I've been studying the PE for the USS Pharris. It's definitely an evenings only project. When all the caffeine from the morning's coffee has worn off.
  17. I have a friend who is a retired Navy Chief. For a number of years, he served on board USS Nimitz. He's retired from the Navy and retired from a civilian career too. So I bought a Trumpeter 1/700 USS Nimitz, 1975. I was going to make a diorama with ocean, etc. While thinking about the project I thought I should add one of the escorts. He also at one time earlier in his career served on board USS Pharris. He's never mentioned the USS Pharris escorting the USS Nimitz, but I figured modeler's license, so the escort is going to be the USS Pharris. He's talked about one particular cruise and I found information online that lists the airwing complement, squadrons, aircraft numbers, aircraft types. So: As you can see, I'm going to try to drive myself insane with all the PE too.ðŸĪŠ I've started the base, it's 15" x 42". I need to get some trim to add along the sided and stain. I'll be using modeler's license for the distance between ships too. I'll see how fast it progresses. At least I still get to model aircraft too. 😁
  18. Back at the Corsair and making headway. The stencil decals do add to the look.
  19. Okay, wires are on, Yay! Now to paint them and touch up some other spots.😁
  20. Looking good! From your first post about getting tired of seeing Corsair, "you can't have too many Corsairs!"
  21. I'm slowly making headway. Still working on the Barracudacals Cockpit stencil decals, right-side console to go yet. I did have wires attached to the wireway. In bending the first wire into place and placing the end at the cylinder head I managed to break it loose. While trying to place it, I broke two more loose. 😖 Soooo, I removed them all. ðŸ˜Ą I'm sure I can work out the wires to the front side of the front cylinders, but I haven't worked out how I'm going to place the other wires. I'm sure the wire I was using is too stiff for the purpose, so now to contemplate how I'm going to accomplish the task. Onward, lots to do!
  22. Yes, they are small. ðŸĪŠ (magnifier and headlight) I"ve noted comments elsewhere and on the instructions that particular pieces might be better cut apart, too. I've been doing one piece at a time and making sure it's attached before the next piece so I don't mess it up.
  23. John, looking great! While working on mine this afternoon, the thought crossed my mind, since you've built so many, do you catch yourself going by memory and missing a step? 😉 I'll update mine soon, I'm working through those Barracudacals Cockpit stencils.
