  1. Well, I guess it's time to really get started. 🙂 These decals and some Tamiya paint came today. And the wheels were in the drawer. I'll see if I can drive myself crazy with the decals.🤪
  2. 🍿🍿🍿 I'll be watching too. I just received some items today for my corsair.
  3. It's looking really nice, Peter!
  4. After visiting with my brother on our recent trip, I got the idea to build this and give it to him. He likes the corsair. I thought I'd build it pretty much OOB. I might pick up some resin wheels. Probably one of the paint schemes in the kit, but I may make masks to paint the markings. See if I get it done in time for NATS, since we're going that way.
  5. Thanks guys! It was a fun build. I’ll post if anything else pops up. I originally started out hunting information about the other Bf-108 that the US owned but there aren’t any known photos. In the process I was told about this one and given information and a photo of this one. So I built it.
  6. Of note, we had dinner last evening with friends from NC, they're being tourists in Nashville. She has historically been referred to as my wife's twin sister. They're not sisters but discovered in their first math class in college that they have the same birthday and were born minutes apart. She grew up in Hagerstown, MD. Not far from I81 and the western end of the main runway. Her father worked for Fairchild, unfortunately he started working there in the early '50s and double unfortunate that he's passed. We were talking and I eventually showed them a photo of this model. She became very intrigued and immediately started texting with one of her brothers who I guess knows some of the Fairchild old timers. I guess I'll see if any more information comes to light about this aircraft.
  7. It's been finished for a couple of weeks, but we were away, so I finally took better photos.
  8. Thanks, guys! No, no curtains, it leaves more room to look inside. 😀
  9. Okay, all those little bits are in place. The nav lights are really tiny 🤪. We have commitments the next two weeks, I'll put together some better photos then. Thanks for looking. And, thanks Peter.
  10. It's getting closer. It just needs the landing light, nav lights, radio antenna, and hand holds.
  11. Thanks Peter. Those aren't decals, they're painted using masks cut on a Cameo 4.
  12. Well, another step done. I need to put one of the aileron balances back, I managed to knock it off. The wheel wells need RLM02 and the far side of the rudder needs a little touchup.
  13. The prop is painted except for the logo. I painted a tan color, then used a darker brown oil that I used a fan brush to spread out to look like the wood grain, and then some Tamiya clear orange on top. Than the black-green.
  14. Thanks, that looks nice. I figured that the -1D wasn't any better. I used a Quinta set in the cockpit as well as a couple of Eduard PE sets that I had bought way back. I do have a Tamiya -1 birdcage in the closet. I'm sure that will be better.
  15. I've had one of the -1D and -4 Trumpeter kits since they were released. I've only gotten to building the -4 now and I understand your comments about the wing fold mechanism. 😖ARRRRRGGGGHHH! More work to do. I was probably going to glue them in the open position, but I guess I don't have something installed right because the wing pieces don't meet up when the wings are open. So, surgery has been done and they will most definitely be glued in the open position.
  16. Not a lot of progress, the wing/fuselage joints were a little more than I was anticipating, but it's now ready for paint. The propeller did get some work.
  17. From your posting above, no project is worthwhile unless you put some blood into it. 😉
  18. Very nice! I picked up an F2A-2 "Yellow Wings" at a show last month.
  19. Well, the fuselage is closed up and the wings and tail surfaces are on. The flaps and ailerons will have to wait 'til I've finished the filling and sanding. The wing to fuselage isn't perfect but it could be a lot worse. A little plastic card, a little filler, and make sure I don't fill the seam on the top and bottom of the rear fuselage. The top and bottom of the nose do need to be smooth.
  20. I picked this up on ebay for the color chips. I saw it referenced in the videos of the Kermit Weeks Bf 108 restoration. I didn't know it existed, but it makes sense. 🤪
  21. Okay, the cockpit pieces are ready to attach the sides to the main part and the engine is ready to go into the fuselage. I added anchors for the rear seat lap belts. And something to represent the brake pedals and cylinders on the left side rudder pedals.
  22. Peter, Oh, yeah, that's why I suggested it could be the lighting.
