  1. Thanks, Carl, I got awake to an email that was double checking my address and telling me that they would be sending parts.
  2. Soooooo.......... the wheels are done. I tried the Hataka paint straight from the bottle, but for my use it needs to be thinned. Next time. But the problem that I didn't notice 'til this afternoon, one of the engine parts is short-shot. I've sent an email about a replacement part. I'll have to wait and see. So, it's on hold for the time being.
  3. Thanks! It's RLM66, that way the black insignia looks different.
  4. Thanks, Hubert! First step, the wheels. I have the Quickboost wheel set but thought I'd build the kit wheels too. On the left is the kit wheels, on the right is the QuickBoost wheel set. There's a color photo in the Mushroom Yellow Series book which appears to have a circumferential tread pattern. There is also a photo which appears to have been from an original manual which has smooth tread. I'm suspecting that the color photo is from more modern times and is not period correct. The seam line in the tire is way too large to pass off as tread, so would have to be corrected. I'll note that the artwork on the box has the circumferential tread pattern too. I have two other books arriving tomorrow and I'll see what they have in them. I think I'll go with the Quickboost wheel set because the kit wheels will also end up with smooth tread once all the seam is filled and sanded.
  5. Well, now that I said I don't have the book, I went on ebay to see which number in the series it was (#11) and looked on the bookshelf again, there it is. But, it doesn't have any helpful photos similar to the corsair photo. I did find this drawing which you might find interesting.
  6. It seems strange that I don't have one of the P-47 Squadron Walkaround books, but I don't. This is from the F4U Corsair book. The wheel and brake line connection are from the same period.
  7. Well, it has to work in similar fashion to the brakes on you car. The brake cylinder and pads don’t rotate with the wheel and I can’t see any reason to complicate it by going through the axle.
  8. A couple of years ago I picked up a Dragon Bf-110D/E kit and a Revell Bf-110C-0/C-7 kit. The goal is a G4 (I have the AIMS conversion), but I wanted to build a 110 of more generic assembly before attempting the G4. So, this was it. I decided on Falck's aircraft and had intended on painting all the markings except the squadron and personal markings. In the end I just used the EagleCals decals for everything. I used various Eduard PE, Aber and Master gun barrels, and the Quickboost exhaust set. The paint is mostly MRP with the use of AK Markers for some small items and touchup. The build log is here:
  9. Thanks Rob! I'll certainly have a look through your thread and save it for reference.
  10. Now that the Bf110 is declared done, time to start something new. I've been wanting to get the 110 done so I can start on this one. When It's finished, it will be a gift for a niece. The kit. The AM that I purchased. I ended up with two of the oil cooler/radiators when the aircraft only has one. I'm not sure whether I'll use the decals or masks for the markings. I haven't decided on which markings yet. Two books that I purchased as well as others on my kindle app too. And two more on the way. And Paint. I couldn't find specific paint in my favorite paint (MRP) but found these from Hataka. And these were ordered directly from Hataka because I couldn't find a source here, until after I ordered these. I've never used Hataka paints before. It looks like it should be a fun project.
  11. Looks like a good choice to me.
  12. Okay, I'm declaring this one done. Hopefully I'll get some RFI photos this week. Now to figure how I'm going to pack this to take along to NATS. Should be fun.
  13. I understand that. A magnifier is necessary, and steadier hands would be nice. I have some PE deck handling equipment that are all PE. I guess I'll see how they turn out, whether they actually make it onto the model.
  14. Looks good, John! I've always liked the looks of the Firefly. I wish there was a 1/32 kit.
  15. Okay, a bit more progress. I've been working on the little bits.
  16. This doesn't get worked on very often. I've been building aircraft because I want to put some in the hangar deck. Two of the doors will be open. And even though I'm not putting lights in there, I want folks to see something. I started with the EKA-3s because I'm only using two of them. They should be on the flight deck. Remember, they're 1/700.
  17. I’ll be there.
  18. Watching. Jealously watching.
  19. I was at the IPMS show in Chattanooga this past weekend and picked these items up in the vendor area.
  20. Okay, well, I was there. The show was originally scheduled in early January, but a snowstorm caused the rescheduling. The show does the Gold, Silver, Bronze thing and there are just large groupings. e.g. All aircraft are in the same class regardless of scale. There were 99 folks who entered 404 models. This model was named Best Aircraft. I had seen it at 2023 NATS in San Marcos, TX. He started from this. He also had a photo book showing his progress. This was Best Diorama and Best of Show or Best pick by the judges, I don't recall and maybe it was the same thing. There were only 5 models that I would consider Large Scale Planes. The two above and these below. There were quite a few 1/35 armor models as well as all the other genres too. These are some others that I took photos of. Sorry guys, I guess I'm just not an armor type. I actually won a Russian Bt-2 tank model and after talking to someone who won some Russian figures and said he guessed he would have to get a tank kit to use them with, I donated the Bt-2 to him. It was a nice time. I did receive a silver pin for my Ki-100. And if anyone was there, I was the guy with the Hawaiian shirt with the Flying Tigers P-40 scheme.
  21. Landing gear is on. There is a number of PE pieces to be added. It was easier being able to tilt the model.
