  1. I must say, a 1/4 scale full Spitfire cockpit has my imagination stirring....Full interior and sidewall detail, exterior skin detail, from the front firewall to the bulkhead behind the seat. Would make a pretty impressive display.. Hmmmm....
  2. Yeah, I'd want fully functional instruments for that price......!
  3. Hey Guys, I've seen a couple of 1/4 scale instrument panels built up by James, and very cool they look too. I found this site that does more, and they look pretty good! http://www.inzpan.com/category_s/137.htm I particularly like the look of the Me262 panel. Nice! Also in 1/5 scale too. Check out the accessories section, you can more or less build a complete cockpit! Chris.
  4. Hey Guys, Cheers for looking . Martin, I would like to see it finished too! It's dragging on a bit innit?! Getting there though, slowly..... Grant, It's my belief - and I'm open to correction here - that the yellow circles do indeed denote 'armour plate', and were always painted on the forward face of the plate. However, the Airfix kit instructions show the yellow circle on the rear of the pilot's seat armour, which is where I have put it, so I may be wrong in my placement (but it's a bit late now!) I also read somewhere that the yellow denotes that the plate is non magnetic(?) as to not interfere with compasses and the like. Not sure how a steel armour plate was made to be non-magnetic though..... Chris.
  5. Hey Guys, I managed to get a bit more done, despite being distracted with something called 'Work' and 'Sorting out the Garden' (??). Anyway, got the front end completed. Browning .303's with Master barrels. The rest is kit standard apart from the cloth handles on top of the ammo boxes, made from lead foil. Check it out: Thanks Guys, Chris.
  6. Hey Guys & Gals, Big thanks for all the kind words! More paint today! All done in Xtra Color enamels (I like this paint. I like it a lot). Got the top coats done, after my 24 hour charity Maskathon...... Check it out, what do you think? I have some masks on the way from Mal at Miracle Masks. I'll let it fully cure for a few days and then shoot the markings! Coming along well now Cheers people! Chris.
  7. Hey Guys, Been throwing a bit of paint around tonight . Done with Xtracolor enamels. Now with stripes! You wouldn't believe how much of a PITA those fuselage bands were to mask....! Hope you like. Gonna give it a day or two to cure, then the main colours go on. It's coming together now Cheers, Chris.
  8. Hi Guys & Gals, Spent most of today sanding, prepping & masking the Mossie for its primer coat. Finally got into a state that I was happy with, so on with the primer - Alclad Grey: Big milestone this! Should have her finished by the end of the week . Cheers, Chris
  9. Not sure if it's rare or not, but the oldest kit I have is an Echelon Hunter, 1/32nd vacuform. Supposedly an extremely accurate kit, I may find out one day!
  10. That is bloody marvelous! That aluminium data stencilling on the inside of the skin, would that happen to be a decal? And does it come in 1/24th scale?! I love that..... Chris.
  11. Hey Guys, I've been working to improve the kit undercarriage doors, This is what I come up with: The Airfix door 'blank' and my effort to make it look like an actual door. Not finished yet, still have to add a few more bits, but it's getting there. I really need to try and learn resin casting. It's something I've been thinking about recently. I have to make 3 more of these and it's gonna take a fair bit of time!! Oh well, back to it! Chris.
  12. Cheers for all the cool words Guys. Cees, I did add the strips on top and bottom of the wings. Got another to fit over the fuselage as well soon. I'm on a bit of a slow down at the moment. I'm attempting to make something that looks like an undercarriage door out of the 'shape' that Airfix supplies! One of the very few disappointments of this kit - the undercarriage doors! Much scratchbuilding/measuring/grunting/cutting/grunting going on at the moment..... Chris.
  13. That's a cool looking space Welcome to the forums too!! Chris
  14. I love the cockpit panoramas! That's cool
  15. That, Sir, is magnificent! The weathering and finishing is superbly done. Love it, really good job mate! Chris.
  16. Guys, thanks again for the comments. This baby is really coming along now. Matt, she is quite a beast. Wingspan measures 690mm tip to tip. I took a couple of shots of it perched on my bench. There's really not a lot of space to work! Chris.
  17. Cheers all, Dave, the PE fasteners are ready made from Mastercasters and Lion Roar, see here: http://www.mastercasters.co.uk/resources/CAMA24007_600.jpg http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=LR%20LT0038 They do look pretty neat, although a little fiddly. Patience and a good eye are needed! Chris.
  18. I picked these up a few weeks ago for my up-coming 'First Armor Build Since I Was 12 Years Old' build. And I'm quite looking forward to it Chris.
  19. Thanks James, The ventral bay is mainly stock. I did detail the hydraulic panel at the very start of the build, here: The things I have added are the canons and a few hydraulic lines. The stock detail is pretty good on its own though! Chris.
  20. Hey Guys & Gals, I'll try and bring you up to date on my Mossie build. I won't start again from the beginning, but if you want to see the pics from the build start you can check out my Photobucket album here (if the link works!): http://s1181.beta.photobucket.com/user/alpine00/library/Mosquito%20Model%20Pics This is what I've been doing recently. Finished the ventral bay. Fuel tanks, bomb racks, canons. Also added a few hydraulic lines for the door jacks: Scribing and riveting on the radiator panels: Added photoetch fasteners on the engine panels: Revised panel lines and riveting on the undercarriage nacelles: Made locating bits for the prop and exhaust stacks: And this is what i'm doing today. Sprayed up the nacelles in Xtra Colour RAF Sky and started the initial weathering: Cheers people, back soon with more. Chris.
