  1. Well recommend the Dspiae bits, this is my setup. The bit holders fit all their 3.175 shanked tools. The chuck assembly is magnetic plus a collet. The assembly is plastic but I prefer the small size for one hand operation. The bits themselves having amazing chip removal qualities and can also be purchased separately.

Today my third Model Factory Hiro kit arrived, a 1968 Ferrari 312. I decided against the same car with wings, because I like the undisturbed view at the beautiful 12 cylinder engine. Before I received the kit, I thought about riveting the whole body with tiny resin rivets, but after inspecting the resin part, decided against, as there are so many so close to each other, I would fear for the stability of the body.
I think, this will be my first MFH building venture, to get a grip for the materials, specially white metal.
I try to get a magnetic tumbler polisher to my place at the world, but until now without success.

Also my Proxxon drill stand arrived, which will be a nice ´third´ hand for metal polishing and of course drilling with my trusted old Proxxon drilling machine.

    Cheers Rob

Good catch. Please post a WIP, I’m intrigued on how these go together. My only whitemetal modelling was with 4mm railway kits. I never soldered but with the right solder, flux and iron it is very successful…….looking forward to the build…….

Looking really good Phil. Like Peter mentioned, these ZM kits have their annoyances. I found some on their TA-152, but somehow got her finished. Yor P-51 is a beauty and I will reference to your build, when I dig out my RAF/late boxing.
AAAAAAAnd, bring on the figures :D.

    Cheers Rob

Thanks Rob, I do like ZM’s approach and the tooling and engineering is very good. I thought you might want to see the figures, remember they are my first attempt………pics to come…..

Your ZM P-51 looks terrific and what an accomplishment, as I've seen quite a few started and your build is the only one to cross the line. When I tackled the ZM 109, I found the kit frustrating and even confusing at points and can fully appreciate the work and effort into put into the kit.  A beauty for sure.

Looking forward to the vignette with ZM figures. 🏆🏆🏆

Thanks Peter much appreciated. The build was enjoyable it was the painting that did me. The only criticism would be the engine mounts to the fire wall and the alignment of the engine. My centreline is very very slightly off. I hope my photos are good enough…..

  5. So again as with the Mossie, I’m calling this pony finished. It came with some ZM figures so I’m going to have a go at adding them to the final vignette. Here is a taster before again I attempt to photograph it, I’m still working on the figures so maybe another week before I can get the finished pictures……..As my second ZM it was enjoyable and an education with their philosophy of making the kit as close to the real plane. Would still recommend highly…….

  6. Seems all my builds are coming to an end. This is now ready for the spray booth. Halftracks are notoriously difficult to spray as a completed unit. So next weekend (back to the workstation) booth and fun to be had………the kit came with the 20mm trailer so I am scratch building that into an ammunition trailer………..the metallic finish on the flak unit is so I can blow German grey over it and weather back to metal, I hope…….

WOW, brilliant build and I completely agree that the Tamyia Mossie was a incredible build and truly worth every penny.

Take your time with the photographs as we'll all be patiently waiting.

    🏆

Thanks Peter, I’m so glad I didn’t jump into it when I bought it back in 2017 as I didn’t have enough experience to do it justice. Saying that, if you are methodical it’s a breeze to build, so perhaps I wouldn’t have screwed it up. I did build another in a minute but I’ll wait a little. Hope everything goes well tomorrow 🤞
