  1. This thing:

sS78wN.jpgUsed 3/4 of a bottle of Richthofen's Red over the white base coat.  Bear in mind I didn't have to paint a lot of areas due to the design.  IIRC, the black took a few coats to reach opacity, over the white base coat.

    This thing:  (in 1/48 scale)

Which is about the same size as a 1/32 single engined plane, used only 1/3 of a bottle of RLM 76 over both gray primer and RLM 74&75.  Not much paint was required due to the similarities of color.

  2. I use acrylics and glass cleaner all of the time.  And I do have a brass area at the bottom of each cup of my two Iwatas.  Never had any problems, tho.  Nothing seems to be touching the needlrs.  I think they're stainless steel.   They do act unhappy if I don't wipe the needle clean after each use.

  3. The paint lift scares me.  Your masking material shouldn't lift paint that often.  I think three outta five in that small area would inspire me to pull all of the masks, reprint them, and then strip the uppers, give them a fine sand and break out the lacquer primer.

  4. Steve,

This is all very amazing!  I've spent quite a few minutes catching up.

When the mask cutters started becoming available, I wondered if anyone would attempt to do as you are doing.  Thanks to great decal sets, more planes are becoming covered in decals than ever before.

I feel like I'm holding my breath waiting for the next update!

In that case you should be able to point out the "inaccuracy"?

If it is just a feeling, ignore it then, perhaps it's based on earlier reviews. When the Hasegawa kit was first released the spinner was the weak point. If they have retooled it with the F, then what's the problem?

And there is always the aftermarket.

Unfortunately parabola's and other advanced math are beyond me....  but I can't say that this:

    Looks like this:

Obviously, such pieces were made on and English wheel, or with a metal shaping power hammer.  so there may have been variations.
