  1. I'm always game for another Warhawk from JohnB. BTW, I need a resin K tail for a project I'm planning to do one day. I thought I would do it myself with scrap plastic and putty...but who am I kidding? This resin tail will just save time and hassle.
  2. Great job and very colorful subject. Did you to the mottling freehand with the airbrush? I just don't trust my skills yet on that.
  3. Cool looking paint scheme choice. Looking forward to your RFI....tomorrow! LOL
  4. I love the glossy overall Oxford Blue RAAF Sea Fury with the white spinner. https://images.app.goo.gl/utcqeoTHxYNYZH8z9
  5. You did it right. Years ago, I went to Middlesboro, Kentucky, to see the P-38 that was pulled out of the glacier...."Glacier Girl". I saw the original US ARMY on the wing. It looked like a very very dark blue to my eye.
  6. It does look better with a thicker prop, that's for sure. Hasegawa never corrected that narrow prop and it really looks wrong on the later marks...like the N.
  7. Your prop mods look very nice. Those early war E models did come with a narrow chord prop. So if you wanted to stay with the original and save your resin ones for another warhawk...you could.
  8. Great job and Testors MM looks great. Wish they were still in production.
  9. I read Morehead's book some years ago. It was good! He did think the P-40 was a dog, though.
  10. Great job, JohnB. Love those NMF P-40s!
  11. He must've done it so you could offset the rudder for a natural look?
  12. Long delay due to lots of other things going on with work/family. Can I get my mojo back? Well, here are the wonderful Airscale heavy paper seat belts for your perusal:
  13. Great start! I built the Eduard 1/48 mk IX and it was an absolute joy. So I have really coveted the Tamiya mk IX (and now the Airfix 1/24 mk IX). I will watch your build with interest.
  14. Interesting conversion. These are different and fun to see!
  15. Another great looking model, JohnB!
  16. What type of dark grey putty do you use? I'm curious as I see the foam filler and the styrene formers you have marked with sharpie. If you sand down until you see sharpie lines won't the filler be so thin at that point it will have no strength? Unless the foam is harder than it looks...
  17. I can't recall but by the looks of it I'd say it was 1/32 or 1/35.
  18. I usually bring my DSLR to the model show. This year I wanted to focus on enjoying the show and not messing with photography. Couldn't help myself....took some snapshots with my iPhone. No real pattern here, just took shots of quality work or interest. Note there is a gorgeous Kotare Spitfire. Also and Fisher Sea Fury which I hope will kick me into working on my kit! Enjoy: Vince's photos from the show (Click on photo to enlarge and to zoom)
  19. I think the Magic Factory 1/48 Corsair is a contender. Also, I own the 1/32 MPC studio scale Star Wars TIE Fighter and it is really cool!
  20. That kit looks beautiful and you are doing a smashing job. However, that multipart cowling makes me want to build my Tamiya P-47D then think about purchasing this kit.
  21. Wow!!!! I need details on how you did those little round louvers!
  22. Another stellar Wildcat on the shelf! I have one of the Eduard F4F kits and can't wait to build that.
  23. LOL. I saw the white and clean paint job and knew it was post war. Must've thought it was a racer!
  24. So nice to see an unusual non-military subject. Clean, nice work! I can smell the Testors from here. Smells so good!
