Tamiya F4U-1D completed
KUROK replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
An awesome Corsair, for sure! Love that smooth GSB. -
Following along. I have a couple of these Tamiya motorcycle kits too. I've been wanting to take the plunge.

I tried MM acryl late in the game...before they quit making it. I found that cutting it 50/50 with Future gave very good results. Also after about two days of curing time it was so hard I could not even scratch with my fingernail...probably due to the Future.
-
Even though that GSB gave you masking trouble, it sure is smooth. What is your brand on that?

Hi All, Here are some iPhone pictures I took at the show in Marietta, GA, yesterday. No rhyme or reason...just pics of things that caught my eye. p.s. I always say I won't spend any money...but as usual I bought kits (P2V-7 Neptune, F-82 twin mustang, bf109G-10) Enjoy: Vince's pics from 2025 show - click photo for closer look

I'm always game for another Warhawk from JohnB. BTW, I need a resin K tail for a project I'm planning to do one day. I thought I would do it myself with scrap plastic and putty...but who am I kidding? This resin tail will just save time and hassle.

Great job on this!

Great job and very colorful subject. Did you to the mottling freehand with the airbrush? I just don't trust my skills yet on that. -
Cool looking paint scheme choice. Looking forward to your RFI....tomorrow! LOL

I love the glossy overall Oxford Blue RAAF Sea Fury with the white spinner. https://images.app.goo.gl/utcqeoTHxYNYZH8z9 -
Hasegawa 1/32 P-40E Darwin 1942
KUROK replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
You did it right. Years ago, I went to Middlesboro, Kentucky, to see the P-38 that was pulled out of the glacier...."Glacier Girl". I saw the original US ARMY on the wing. It looked like a very very dark blue to my eye. -
Hasegawa 1/32 P-40E Darwin 1942
KUROK replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
It does look better with a thicker prop, that's for sure. Hasegawa never corrected that narrow prop and it really looks wrong on the later marks...like the N. -

Your prop mods look very nice. Those early war E models did come with a narrow chord prop. So if you wanted to stay with the original and save your resin ones for another warhawk...you could. -
Revell Bf-109G RFI

Great job and Testors MM looks great. Wish they were still in production. -

I read Morehead's book some years ago. It was good! He did think the P-40 was a dog, though. -
Hasegawa 1/48 NMF P-40N done RFI
KUROK replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/48 Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Great job, JohnB. Love those NMF P-40s! -
He must've done it so you could offset the rudder for a natural look?

Long delay due to lots of other things going on with work/family. Can I get my mojo back? Well, here are the wonderful Airscale heavy paper seat belts for your perusal: -
Tamiya 1/32 Mk IX Spitfire Polish Fighting Team
KUROK replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Great start! I built the Eduard 1/48 mk IX and it was an absolute joy. So I have really coveted the Tamiya mk IX (and now the Airfix 1/24 mk IX). I will watch your build with interest. -
Interesting conversion. These are different and fun to see!

Another great looking model, JohnB! -

What type of dark grey putty do you use? I'm curious as I see the foam filler and the styrene formers you have marked with sharpie. If you sand down until you see sharpie lines won't the filler be so thin at that point it will have no strength? Unless the foam is harder than it looks... -
I can't recall but by the looks of it I'd say it was 1/32 or 1/35.

I usually bring my DSLR to the model show. This year I wanted to focus on enjoying the show and not messing with photography. Couldn't help myself....took some snapshots with my iPhone. No real pattern here, just took shots of quality work or interest. Note there is a gorgeous Kotare Spitfire. Also and Fisher Sea Fury which I hope will kick me into working on my kit! Enjoy: Vince's photos from the show (Click on photo to enlarge and to zoom)

I think the Magic Factory 1/48 Corsair is a contender. Also, I own the 1/32 MPC studio scale Star Wars TIE Fighter and it is really cool!
