denders Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I've had one of the -1D and -4 Trumpeter kits since they were released. I've only gotten to building the -4 now and I understand your comments about the wing fold mechanism. 😖ARRRRRGGGGHHH! More work to do. I was probably going to glue them in the open position, but I guess I don't have something installed right because the wing pieces don't meet up when the wings are open. So, surgery has been done and they will most definitely be glued in the open position. 2

I built one ages ago and replaced darn near everything from my spares stash and after market stuff. The -4 is better but still has some problems as you know. Here's a couple of photos of the -1D I built back in 2010 Aires cockpit and wheel wells plus other after market stuff. No way was I going to try to fold the wings! LOL 3
denders Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Thanks, that looks nice. I figured that the -1D wasn't any better. I used a Quinta set in the cockpit as well as a couple of Eduard PE sets that I had bought way back. I do have a Tamiya -1 birdcage in the closet. I'm sure that will be better. 1
