Wingco57
Good work. I picked up the motivation to continue this kit, even though it sucks every Kind of pleasure out of me. The fuse is closed, the wings and tailplanes are on. Warning, I cut away the web beneath the carburettor intake in an attempt to make the bulged belly flatter. This made the wings drop and losing the dihedral. So setting the dihedral again with tape is important. Pics whenI feel like taking them. Paulster
Check the cockpit frames for warping. The instrumentpanel frame did not fit ( too wide) Cees Made by Aires?
Wingco57
No, Revell. But could be my clumsyness. Cees
Paulster
Sorry Cees. My poor attempt at humor. After several projects using Aires products, I am convinced that "Aires" is Czech for "does not fit".
Wingco57
Aires is the god of war too? Anyway, this one is toast for now. Got something more interesting. Cees
stehlingsg
I started the wings yesterday. The fit of the wing tips is horrible! I do not want to use putty, as the detail would be lost. I will try to fill it with paint. Also I discovered that the Horizontal tail planes need to be modified. Really Revell, this is a damned nuisance to try to get them to match! However, the stubborn German in me will persevere. I have polish decals for this one. I just read a review of the new 1/32 scale MK V, and it seems as though Revell carried over the same problems and more. I am not going to waste my money on this one. I will give the Special Hobby or Hasegawa MK V kits consideration. Need to do some web surfing. Gonzo
Paulster
What brand putty do you use Gonzo? I use Tamiya. I at times thin it with lacquer thinner to basically make it into thick paint. Or use the Tamiya Surface Primer,(40 mil square bottle. Easy to rescribe also.
stehlingsg
Squadron green/white. You can thin it with lacquer thinner from any hardware store. I will be using paint to fill the gaps in the wing to wingtip join as there is a lot of detail there that I do not want to lose, and it is easily cleaned up/sanded with fine grit. I have also used Mr. Surfacer (various grades). I'll have to try the Tamiya products.
Wingco57
Mine is in a box in a dark corner of the loft. The Airfix Tiffy gets all the attention at the moment.Cees
stehlingsg
Araagh!!! This kit has overcome my stubborn German tendencies. I am going to shelve this one for a while and move on to something else from the stash. Gonzo

happy1
Guy's use mister surfacer 500 or 1000 to fill the gaps in the wing tips and wing roots then use a Q-tip dipped in istopropyl alcohol to remove the excesse surfacer that way you won't lose any detail, you dont even have to wait till it completely dries sometimes you might have have to repeat this process a couple of times if the gap is farely wide as the surfacer will sink in doing it this way doesn't attack the plastic at all I use 99% Alcohol but 91% works good too.
