NathanT Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Seems like a good time to get you all up to speed on my group build entry. Hasegawa's G-2 kit with an old Jaguar Resin set and Techmod decals. I'll be building white "227" These resin pieces are fairly fragile, but look good enough. However some of the smaller pieces were a pain to cut out: 66 on with some lights and shadows made witht the airbrush: Cockpit all finished up with an oil wash and some pigments. The photo etch belts and other pieces really suck in this set, but it is 15 years old I guess, So I only used the bare minimum: Cockpit in place...with scratched rear bulkhead door...and missing shoulder belt..??
NathanT Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 ...And some airframe work: radiator door detail: Brake lines from magnet wire attached with BM Foil: Winscreen gettin fitted. The red masks come in the Techmod sheet, but the fit was only so-so, and I didn't trust them, so the rest of the canopy got Eduard's masks. Gunsight is in there somewhere: The Jaguar kit comes with a nice correct spinner, as well as exhausts and wheels: Drilled out the cowling scoops and gun barrels: A more correct and nicely detaild resin rudder came in the update set as well, but it took some re-shaping of the kit vertical stabilizer: 2
NathanT Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Time for some paint. Here's the real deal. Wish me luck! Note the small letter F on the port tail. Not provided my techmod, so I will have to mask and paint it myself Well, lets start with some orange yellow. Trying to match the decals: Stupid Luftwaffe multi colored spinner!(my nemesis): My own tail strips: ...More to follow... 2
NathanT Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Masking the "F": ..And the black wing walk: I guess I have more pics to upload of the finished painting and decaling. Hope you like it so far. 2
